I'm trying to set up my Outlook so I can use it to check my e-mail with Embarqmail.com This used to be Earthlink, but the settings for earthlink don't work.

I just got my outlook working with the new embarqmail account, here are the setttings:
For User Name, type in your full new embarq email address
Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.embarqmail.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.embarqmail.com
Click on the 'more settings' button in the lower right, go to the 'outgoing server' tab and check the box for 'my outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication'

Outlook can work with almost all email servers, from POP3/IMAP to Exchange, I think you have your accounts information typed in incorrectly.
