It means God still loves us even if we are sinners. And he sent his son to die for our sins.

Hello wisdom - Amen. "But God commends his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 While running the wrong way and literally his enemy, He died for me. That is very good news...Praise the Lord! EDIT: Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank you, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalts himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." Luke 18:10-14 Even though there may have been some truth in the comment posted about someone here "sinking into hell," that was not the right spirit in which to give it. Please reconsider the power of influence your words have. It is that kind of attitude that gives followers of Christ a bad name and further emboldens those who are against God in continuing their defiance of Him and His amazing love. Watch unto prayer, saints. :)

Jesus did not die for us because we DESERVED it -- He died for us because we NEEDED it.

God says that no guilty person can live with him.

None of us has gone his whole life without committing at least one sin.

God agreed that, for any of us who chose to follow Jesus sincerely, He would accept the sacrifice made by Jesus in full payment for our guilt -- which renders us guiltless -- which admits us into God's presence.

If Jesus had not done what He did, none of us could return to God's presence.

For any of us who choose not to accept the sacrfice of Jesus, and follow Him, it is to that person the same as if Jesus had not made Himself a sacrifice -- he cannot return to God's presence.

If one says he has not sinned he is a lie and the truth is not in him. Jesus called us friend,in that he died for us,he knew we were sinful and born in sin yet he took our sins upon his self.

Isaiah 53: 1-12 foretold of that dilemma. Who has believe are message. Jesus was a man of surrows ,and familiar with suffering.

Doesn't matter "what it means to" me, that is not the basis of interpreting Scripture.

What it does mean is found in the rest of the context of Romans 5- that God shows just how really loving He is by dying for people that hate Him, have not heart for Him and no intention of ever receiving His gift of salvation. He wasn't dying for good, honest people who "deserve it", He died for people who call themselves His enemies.

Christ died in order to give us eternal life.

It means nothing to me.

that whole "died for your sins" crap is just a guilt trip about something that happened way, way, before I was born. I take no ownership for it and I'm not paying the tab for it.

There is nothing complicated about it.

It means that Christ saved of us so we could live instead of him and that's why we are here to day.
