Vida,
The entire BIBLE is inspired of the HOLY SPIRIT and we are to read, study, and obey HIS WORD. There is a scripture written by Paul that says the "Old Law is for our learning". We are to study it as we do a history book. It is a big part of our BIBLE and I am not saying it is NOT important but we do not use it's commands to live by and for. CHJRIST died and arose so that we would have the opportunity to be in Heaven under the New Testament Commands. The Church of CHRIST began in Acts 2 and HIS Apostles spread the WORD of GOD like a fire. All but the Apostle John were said to have been tortured and killed rather than disobey Christ. Please get the facts straight. Have a great weekend and a wonderful LORD's DAY!
Thanks,
Eds

Old testament law for the basis for law in western countries. In the Irish Constitution it says that no law is above that of God's law.
The problem is that the old testament has a range of laws relevant to people wandering in the desert 3000 years ago.
Here are some laws that might be fun to use.
Whenever George W. Bush is caught lying, he takes a goat out to the desert and lets it walk away free and he is absolved of any guilt. (hence the term scape goat)
Women having their period must go and live in a special tent (though maybe we can modernise have a hotel them).
Slaves are allowed, as long as they come from another country. This ought to reduce the number of Mexican immigrants....but make tourism to Christian countries a problem.
Jesus was a Jewish reformer, his mission was to get rid of the ridiculous laws and traditions of contempory Jewish society and focus on getting the job done, like a farmer pulling an ox from a well on the sabbath or the joke about the good samaritan (if you know your history, then the story of the good Samaritan is really funny).
The point is, that we shouldn't ignore the old testament, but shouldn't follow it...dare I say it....religiously. Being a good person is about your moral consceince, not about follow a set of rules.

Apostle Paul wrote to the New Testament Christians, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17.
Paul was referring to Old Testament, as the Scripture during the Paul's time was old testament only.

I don't think anyone who is practicing their faith would tell you that the Old Testament, or the Hebrew Scriptures are irrelevant. They are the foundation of the Christian faith, as well as being the books of the Jewish faith.
Jesus, a practicing Jew, most certainly did not tell people to disregard the Hebrew Scriptures. The night before He died He was celebrating the Jewish Feast of Passover, so we know He had not abandoned His faith.

John 6:32. Then read on to verse 59. What many "miss" in the doctrines of Yezua (Jesus) is his FAITH, for it wasn't of the Hebrews, but of the Father in heaven, and one FACT points to his chosen he gave this faith to and this IS within these words of John. The Osirian rite of passage to the King. Jesus mentions it, beginning at verse 50-59. Flesh and blood=wine and bread to represent it. These verses "clarify" the fact that the Jews follow doctrines which do not give "life" eternal, so relevancy to much of the hebrew "holy words" is voided by Jesus having taught God's "truths." I am a disciple of Amen in Yezua, and in ORIGINAL doctrines, where in English you read "Verily, verily I say" was put in place of GOD'S NAME by the Roman Catholic Church, but LEFT it within Jerome's Latin Vulgate. Get a "copy" of it and check it out. When Jesus TAUGHT he often said "AMEN SAYS or in latin 'Amen dico'" so the Judeo-Christian doctrines are manmade ones to go with CULTURAL ties and not of the TRUTHS Yezua taught........Much of what has resulted as Judeo-Christian doctrine ALL have their roots in "deception" not by the FOLLOWERS but the leaders of a very powerful church which was bent on power for 17 centuries and ACHIEVED it.........Doesn't mean any of it is TRUTH......

Jesus made it crystal clear that the god of Moses was satan and not His Father. He also made it clear that He and the Holy Spirit were created and not equal to God. The christian church has rejected these truths and that is why they are being told that they never knew Jesus.

The Old Testament was very relevant as it prefigured everything in the New Testament.

New Testament is the fulfilment of what is written in the Old Testament. And Old Testament contents are the Shadow of what happened in New Testament.
