It's a toss up between Celery Seeds and Mustard Seeds (I'm visualizing or "Imagi-Tasting" this great coleslaw I have at the VA cafeteria! I'm leaning towards Celery. I know it's not Caraway Seeds...

Classic Coleslaw

1 cup mayonnaise
3 tablespoons lemon juice (or white vinegar)
2 tablespoons sugar (or Splenda)
1 teaspoon salt
6 cups shredded cabbage
1 cup shredded carrots
1/2 cup thinly sliced green peppers

Vegetables Salads
Combine first 4 ingredients.
Stir in remaining ingredients.
Cover; chill.

Instructions

1. Comdine first 4 ingredients. Stir remaining ingredients. Cover; chill.


Makes 6 cups.

HERE IT IS! Viola!! Seeds!!

Cole Slaw Recipe

6-8 cups shredded cabbage
2 carrots, shredded
1 green bell pepper, chopped
1 cup or so chopped onion
1 cup each: sugar and cider vinegar
½ cup water
2 teaspoons mustard seed.

Combine cabbage, carrots, pepper and onion.

Set aside while combining sugar, vinegar, water and mustard seed into a medium saucepan.

Bring to a boil and reduce heat. Simer, uncovered, 15 minutes or until slightly thickened.

Pour over cabbage mixture. Mix well. Cover and refrigearate 4 hours or overnight.


And the answer is MUSTARD SEEDS! :0)

celery seed is the basic but my grandma always added chili powder too for a kick. Try it.
