Try exfoliating mildly with a paste made of baking soda and just a drip of water; apply benzoil peroxide medication afterwards. Test it on a small area before to make sure it will not be too irritant.

Doctors aren't really sure of what causes acne and so it's hard to treat universally because acne is different for different people.

The latest I've heard is that acne, and other types of dermatitis, is caused by stress. But stress is different for different people too. I used to get acne because I wasn't eating or sleeping well, which is something that was stressful to me. My friend breaks out when she drinks a lot of coffee, because caffine stresses her out. Unresolved anger, allergies, boredom, school, unpleasant occupation, money, relationship problems, can all cause stress that leads to acne.
If you are always messing with your skin, using different treatments, using harsh treatments, irritating the skin in any way, it can cause acne too.

Drink lots of water, sleep, exercise, keep your skin clean with very mild soap will all help. I've heard of doctors telling patients not to use anything that manufacturers try to sell you for skin care and acne treatment. He said that acne products intentionally cause physical addiction. And this is interesting in that if you start using the product your skin will kinda go into shock and go through a period of being acne-free. And if you stop using it your skin can go into shock as well and break out, but if you stop using the product, even if your acne returns, it'll calm down again and you'll be better able to tell what causes it, without the added confusion of acne products.

You're skin needs to be clog free, oil free to protect your skin from future breakouts. I use this now and it keeps my skin oil free for up to 12 hours. The reason why you breakout is because of all the bacteria that's inside your pores. When pores are smaller you get less breakouts. when pores are smaller they produce less oil which leaves you to less breakouts. Try this if not this than something like it. It is compared to high quality brands like estee lauder and lancome only for a less inexpensive price.

If your zits are really bad like it may be acne problem get an acne treatment because the facial regime is not formulated to treat acne. Acne treatments penetrate deep down into the pores to get the oil and bacteria out before it causes pimples, zits or acne. Acne treatments are formulated with the exact combination of ingredients and molecules that are small enough to carry oxygen deep into your pores you can destroy the bacteria before they cause acne. Acne thrives in an environment without oxygen and die when exposed to oxygen.

Look for makeup that say Noncomedogenic/nonacnegenic (won't clog pores and won't promote acne) or oil free or allergy tested and fragrance free to prevent from clogging your pores. To get rid of dry skin I also use an alternative to microdermabrasion system that I can use at home which is pretty simple. This takes away dead skin cells. Dead skin cells are another cause of having zits and pimples also. #
