Likely, never. Bikes are good, but not for everybody (elderely people, handicapped), and does not adapt for every need (when you need to carry stuff, long distances, rain, midday heat, going to work if you commute over long distances, or wear a suit or dress, etc.).

It would be nice, but not realistically to think that sometime bikes will be in larger number than cars.

Never! People are typically lazy by nature so when the have a choice of how to get from point a to point b the vast majority will choose the easiest and most comfortable way to do it. There is something in our culture that relates comfort and ease to happiness. We don't seam to relate work and accomplishment to happiness. At least that's my opinion.

You may find them on the road less traveled and I see more and more on inner city bike ways (not motorcycles). As the price of gas climbs you will see more no doubt.
