I'm not a fan of gospel music generally, but when it is sung by someone from Kentucky, it seems to take on an extra dimension (in my experience). You can really tell when someone means it and when they don't. I attended a family member's funeral in rural Kentucky, and somehow the singer's lilt, emotion and accent made the music sweeter, even though I do not usually care for gospel. It must be the emotional aspect.

I have no comment on the music, but as for the first part, I totally disagree.

If anything, I think Jesus is far from the sweetest thing. In fact, I would find it more sweet to abide in Satan. Jesus (or God, who are one in the same) murdered countless lives, promoted violence, slavery, sexism, child abuse, and more, all in the Old Testament.

No.

Submission to the whim of an imaginary god is anything but sweet.

Gospel music is repetitive (guess cult victims are used to that...), unoriginal (it's all got the same structure, rhythm, timing, etc.), and generic.

Sincerely,
--An atheist who loves the song "O Holy Night" (before you make assumptions about me dismissing gospel music just because it's religious)

I'm so glad for you, but I disagree entirely. What you describe may be the sweetest thing for a Christian, but it is not so for those in other religions.

Yes I do. Who else can you go to, give all your troubles to, he takes care of it all and you get to live a life you love? The music, says it all......

I do like gospel music, it is full of energy and inspired voices. The rest of your statement I totally disagree with.
