Has finding a boyfriend/girlfriend/spouse become more socially acceptable? I'm not asking whether or not the relationship will last because we all know the answer to that question depends on the relationship and the people involved.

I was just wondering whether online dating is now more socially acceptable. If you're a parent would you object, and if you would why?

i dont know about being more acceptable in general -- i could not object to my children using an online dating service as i use one myself --- plus if there is no objection they would not try to do it on the sly so they would be better protected --- and i could not object anyway as they are all adult and the grandchildren are too young to date yet

yes. Because it can be really dangerous. If you think you love somebody you're saying you trust them. Because a big part of love is trust. You can't see the person online so that person can be 50 and you never know it. And if you trust someone then you would trust him with a lot of personal things. Like where you live, what school you go too, ect. So No i don't think online dating is socaily exceptable. Plus when you love someone you want to see them, so the child might meet up with someone she doesn't know and end up raped and dead like a lot of people that date online.

I think on-line dating has become more accepted across the board. Just be cautious and trust your instincts. It is not that different from flirting with someone at the grocery store, in my opinion. You still have to establish trust and keep the lines of communication open.
