you wont lose fat by doing situ ups or even crunches - the only thing that is gona happen - your belly will look bigger since there is gona be more muscle underneath the layer of fat.
the only way to get rid of fat is by doing cardio which is combined with healthy eating.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

I'm 18 and I have never been able to loose weight until the south beach diet, it is so easy but you have to be commited! The first two weeks all you eat is vegetables and protein. No sugar or carbs. Sugar is what makes you over eat. I lost 13pounds the first two weeks and I have continued to loose weight. The first two weeks though you kind of feel tired and like you don't want to do anything, this is normal you are going through ketosis. Basically fat is just melting off you. Then after this step you can start to have like a piece of bread with eggs in the morning but it has to be alvarado street brain(it is like whole grain) it is really easy to do at school too! I just have a cheese stick and cashews for snack and a chicken ceasar salad for lunch and then for dinner have proteins and vegetables! It works and you don't really need exercise in the beginng only 20minutes of walking

In order to lose weight you have to be eating the right amount of Cal's from the right foods. Just doing the push-ups and sit-ups isn't going to make you lose weight. If you do it in a certain way it is possible but not just 200 push-ups and 200 sit-ups...lol. You can lose muscle by the way....if you don't eat enough it deteriorates.
If you would like a program designed for you with little to no equipment, I would be happy to do that and train you online if you are out of my area.

If anything if you are trying hard to lose weight, keep doing that. Do sit-ups, and push-ups, then start Jogging/Walking/Running - what ever fits you, or you can do best. Remember not to work out too much. You can dehydrate yourself. Also, remember to eat healthy foods, do not eat any type of candy, even if you have withdraws. That can cause you to still gain weight. But sometimes you can have a 200 calorie snack - just for a little hard work. :)

how much weight you lose by exercising is determined by your body composition, so there is no set amount of push ups or sit ups to do. there's also a difference between doing a workout to lose weight and a workout to gain muscle mass. lifting weights and such will help you gain muscle while cardiovascular exercises like running and swimming help you lose weight.
and for the record, you CAN lose muscle tissue as well as fat. when you stop working out your muscle deteriorates.
also, it's important to note that muscle weighs more than fat, so if you do exercises that help you gain muscle mass, you could potentially weigh more than when you were fat, but it will be healthy weight.

You really don't lose weight by doing a lot of push ups. Muscles have their own developmental process and that takes time. Running or doing tae-bo would do it. Sweat burns fat. Doing the three day diet will help too. Should you want to have a copy of that diet, just mail me.

you do know that sit ups and push ups do NOT get rid of belly fat right? all it does is make your stomach muscle tighter so you can lift more weight and run/walk longer. running can actually help you. it takes 3500 calories burned to lose a pound.

Any type of movement will burn calories, but when your pulse rate reaches a specific level, based on your age, weight, level of fitness, it starts buring calories more efficiently.
Doing sit ups, and push ups won't make your muscles bigger. These exercises are not weight bearing work outs. To lose 1 pound of fat, you must burn 3500 more calories than you consume...situps are not the best way to burn calories, but are good for toning ab muscles.
