Like the other posters here, I don't want to believe it.
Unfortunately I am a skeptic, and that cuts both ways. The data is solid as a rock: Global warming (or rather, climate change) is definitely the real deal and we are definitely responsible and we can definitely avert it.
I'm sorry. I hope and pray everyday that Al Gore will go on TV and say "Whoop sorry folks, looks like this was just a scientific error" ... but until then I plan to take action.
But Schwarzenegger is also right. People WON'T give up convenience and luxury, the only way to get them to go green is to give them something BETTER that happens to be green.
So our last best hope is to figure out how to do that.

Global warming will not be lethal. Anyone who says it will is not being completely honest. The Earth has warmed naturally in the distant past to be much warmer than any scientist is predicting it will ever get even if we keep burning coal and oil, and then cooled again, and the warming wasn't lethal then. In fact life flourished in the warm period much more than it does even today. That was before humans appeared on Earth.
That link you wanted me to read is just a political statement. There is no science in it. And the petition is locked.

Generally people only know about Global warming, but my friend there is something called global dimming and global cooling. Are you aware All these plus other factors in general are calle climate changes.
I am personally mindful, being a practising environmentalist and feel painful, whenever I think about this topic in India. Our government has done nothing nor our business community is taking any concrete actions.
There are more serious problems than global warming in India and feel they should be tackled first - pollution in cities, poor infrastructure leading to various pollution and public health issues, over population leading to resource drain and poor sanitation leading to many public health concerns.

NASA has confirmed that there is global warming happening on Mars too, and we aren't there to screw that planet up. The sun is in a hotter cycle, and there is not a whole hell of a lot we can do about it. Yes, we need to take care of the planet because we live here, but it is arrogant assumption to believe we can have any significant effect on natural forces that have been in motion for millenia.

some positive thoughts for mother nature
global warming cannot be stopped but we can stop helping it becoming faster, and being friendlier to out Environment cannot be bad
if you do any cleaning up leave signs behind saying who cleaned, why and ask people not to start dumping rubbish again ,leave a hole or bins ,in case people come with trash ,
we have done a lot of comunity cleaning and if you dont leave alternatives or try to work on peoples guilt feelings (some people actually have those ,but not many)
than your efforts are a waste of time.
these are Al gores sites

POSITIVE ACTIONS
if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to slowdown the destructive processes
reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.
the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.
the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia
Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.
the protection of existing forrests.
stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.
education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.
education on environmental awareness
education on family planning to curb over´population
Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.
more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks
,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour
alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine
recicling wastes,limit water use
here are a 100 more ways

If you are not worried about global warming you are an idiot. Just sit and think for a second about it. The smartest man of this time, if not history, Stephen Hawking, is worried about it destroying our planet within the next Melania. Oh ya, some of you lazy idiots will think "I don't care it is 1000 years away", but notice how I said within a Melania. If we, as humans, keep burning fossil fuels and gasoline into the air, all we are doing is saying "I don't care if the human race goes extinct." Seriously, everyone of this generation and next should have to watch the new documentary addressing the concerns about global warming, "An Inconvenient Truth". If you don't care about global warming you are not just lazy, you are truly an egocentric colt.

As is clear from the principles of Thermodynamics the entropy of the universe is increasing. So our destiny is fixed, question is when.
To delay a fast collapse I start contributing now, by getting some plants in and around my apartment (this is the only thing I know which will reduce CO2 level).
Pl. advise me as to other things that I can do as a common man.

Global warming is as lethal as a rabid squirrel. Sure - it could cause death to someone but the odds are against it. Unless you're really dumb
