Men find several things annoying. While I am not a man, I can speak from personal experience, my observations of others, and from conversations with men of all ages and walks of life:

1. Drama. They despise emotional outbursts, especially in front of their friends and family. They hate hysterical tears.

2. Nagging. They want to be praised, thanked and appreciated, even for remembering to pick up some toothpaste from the drugstore. They do not like having it rubbed in their face that something needs to get done, like yesterday. Give them 24 hrs notice, then 12, than remind them at 6. That shows that you respect their space.

3. Complaining. Pick your battles. When you complain, he will take it very personally. It is in essence a jab at his masculinity, a criticism of what he can and can not provide. Pick your complaints very carefully. If he becomes too overwhelmed with complaints and hysteria, he will say 'to hell with it'.

4. Being loud and inconsiderate. Let him talk and don't interrupt. Then take your turn. Call if you are going to be late. Don't say things that hurt him, or take a jab at his family, job or physique.

... The trick is to thank him and make him feel secure, loved and appreciated. When you do those things, and he still acts like a jerk, you will know he is a genuine jerk and you can do yourself a favor and detach yourself from him.
... Those are the biggies.
