That's way to young to be humping. But I don't think you should really stop him from humping your friend's dog unless you feel the need to.

It's perfectly normal.

You need to be careful though. When the female starts her heat cycle (usually at about 6 months) please don't keep your dog around her. A dog should not be two until bred. It is not safe for the dog.

You need to read up a lot on breeding and get a very good vet.

Please think about what you're doing. There are so many homeless dogs.

Read this. Please.

I'm sorry if you took my response the wrong way. BUT, dogs are more important to me than anything. Walking into a shelter with a bunch of sad dogs who don't have homes makes me cringe. I just wanted you to take into consideration what a big deal breeding is. I'm sorry if I offended you. Have fun with your puppy.

I used to breed shih tzus ten years ago.
Humping is part of your male dog's male hormones that are maturing him in to a male dog. Humping is just part of being a male dog.

Read up on breeding shitz Tzus. When the female goes in to heat, believe me your male dog will know what to do.
What happens is that the female will be cranky when the male is around when she is first in heat. When she is ovulating she will stand for the Male. She instinctively stand for the male, which is amazing that the nature in the dogs works as perdicted. After she is done ovulating she will no longer stand for the male and she will be nippy at him. Thus we get the word "Bitchhh"

The two dogs are acting natural. It is good that they are getting to know each other.

Having puppies is so much fun. Be sure you have a good vet in case the female has any troubled delivering her pups.

Enjoy!

Your dog is too young to actually be able to breed the other dog, but obviously, he may display some signs of mating behavior early as he begins to mature. You don't mention the age of your friend's dog, but she should not be bred before she is a year old. You should definitely read more and learn about breeding and taking care of puppies before you make the decision to breed these dogs, though!

You don't know how to 'mate' dogs yet you plan to breed him in the future? Don't do it. He isn't too young to start humping - nor is it too late to do the RESPONSIBLE thing and NEUTER him!

i just got a rat terrier female , she's just at 4 months and she humps too, maybe they're like little kids and just are realizing that their things have feelings, lol our vet says just keep correcting her gently- divert her attention to something else
