Why do I see ads every freakin day saying "you won a free ps3!!" "you won $1000 dollars!! Free!!" all in very bright flashy backgrounds.
It ends up if you go through them its just a load of cr*p which they force you to sign up for alot of websites and junk mail. Then they make you buy so much stuff that you end up paying triple of what you would have normally paid for the "free" item that you won!

why do they do this

Because they collect leads -- and those folks hoping to actually win "$1000 dollars" or "free PS3" are more than willing to fill up these endless forms that ask for their information which these advertisers then sell.

Selling information as leads is a great business on the Web, especially if you dangle a little carrot and people will come rushing in to give their information. That's why after you fill up these forms hoping to win any of these offers, you'd get a lot of spam after.

It's cheesy; it's irritating -- but you'd be surprised at the HIGH click through rates these banners get. People are really responding to it -- shows you that there are so many gullible people on this world

because they can- becasue people actually give in and until people stop being naive to internet fraud it will continue to happen.. or until they get sued.. or until (becasue it is so new) a law is made to prohibit this stuff- or until the government decides to spend the deficit's money on clamping down on this and hire someone to catch these people or small companies.. (which is probably not a governmental concern at the present time).. I don't se it happening anytime soon.. People just have to get smarter. Maybe it is a glitch that will promote furthering intelligence by evolution! Maybe it's all justa test!! lol ;)

Remember? Nothing is FREE in life. Avoid scans and do NOT give away your personal information to untrusted sources especially on the Internet and NEVER give away your Social Secutiry Number. You can report abuse to the Better Business Bureau and to your Internet Service Provider online (ex. abuse@yahoo.com) or through their Customer Support Department. These compaies who are doing this buy and sell your name, address, telephone number, etc to other companies for cash and they also spam you with junk mail, junk email, junk US Mail etc. and you can avoid these hassels. BEWARE and Good Luck surfing on the Internet. :-) PS You can change the settings on your computer to STOP and minimize these ADs.

The fact that you "went through all of it" means that they have had sufficient opportunity to plants a lot of spyware onto your computer.

You are what contribute to internet-advertising. They got what they wanted, and the behavior is rewarded.
