So, don't beg. Ask discretely. Bake him a cake and ice it yourself. Help him with his chores and always be right there (in his way) but helping. He will know why you are doing it, but it may help soften him up. It always helped with my mom.

my dads the same way, but I managed to get 3 cats. So what I would suggest is just sitting down with your dad and asking him exactaly why he doesnt want another cat and then telling him how that problem can be fixed. Tell him how much it would mean to you and that you would take great care of it and that all cats need a home why not in a great home like yours?
Also if he doesnt want you to buy a kitten maybe you should just get one for free. Most kittens are really cute.

I suppose you expect him to shell out the $100?
And who is going to pay for the immunizations? Who will pay for the twice-annual teeth cleanings (under anesthesia)? Who is going to pay for the annual checkups? Because as a responsible pet owner I KNOW you are already able to afford all these things for your cat now and understand the responsibility! Yeah, right.
Your father has to pay the bills. When you actually grow up and have that burden, then you can have the right to have a cat in your own place. Until then you have no right to criticize your father who is probably breaking his back now to try and pay for everything. You are a child and have no concept of how hard it is to earn a living and stay one step ahead of the bills. Why don't you take all that excess energy and get a job, earn some money, and give it to your parents?
And while you're at it, how about showing some love and affection to your original cat? Maybe he or she wouldn't appreciate a newcomer shoving in and taking over the home. Have you considered his or her feelings? They do have feelings, you know. They are living beings and know love and loyalty. Loyalty - now there's a two-way street. Try it.

your other cat will be so happy. I had one for 6 months and felt bad that she was in need of a friend and I just got my 2nd cat for her like 5 months ago and well the older one HATED her at first (there blood sisters even) but after a few days of showing them equal attention you should see them now their bff. I can not believe I ever made my baby be alone before :(. Plus they are less work with 2 then 1

Maybe you could convince him just to take a look at the kittens. Sometimes that is all that it takes to fall in love with a cute little kitten. If he still won't give in, then I think you should back off for now, as he could make it quite miserable for the little one, if he doesn't want one. Be happy for now that you have one, and someday when you have your own home, maybe you can get more...

That's a lot of money to be spending on a cat that doesn't even facter in extra food, extra vet bills etc.
if you really want another cat make up a pro/con list and sit down with your dad like a grown up and listen to what he says and then state your case and try and find a common ground.
and if he does say yes to another cat, PLEASE ADOPT a cat from a shelter!

I just brought home my daughter's cat because she never cleaned out the litter box enough and he would go on the floor around it when it got full.
He is just an orange color, named punkin, less than a year old, meows a lot.
Lays all sprawled out on his belly on the floor with his back legs sticking straight out, it is so funny looking.
Just brought him home today and he hasn't eaten anything yet.

Ask him what you could do to show him you'd be responsible for the cat so he wouldn't have to take care of it?
