what are bit torrents? because sometimes, when i oepn a file or a link. my comp says" before opening this program, windows has to know what program created it. i dont know what to do. so i always cancel it. but now i have to open something with the same thing too.. can anyone help me how to do this? by the way, some of my friends told me this files are called torrents

Bit Torrent is a protocol for file sharing...

In order to use it, you need 2 pieces:
1) A client program on your PC that will let you share files, and
2) A tracker to "find stuff"

After you find what you would like to download, by opening a bittorrent link, your client program will download and share the file automatically...

A torrent is a piece of software which allowes people to download in a kind of network on the internet where they download straight from the uploaders PC.
a file cannot be a torrent unless that is the actual thing you are running.
Too bad you dont have vista i could help you a lot then.

BitTorrent is a file sharing protocol that lets you download files (software, music, etc) from other people online, but without a central server like Kazaa--in other words, it's peer-to-peer. You downloads parts of the file from everyone on the system who has it, and when you get a file via BitTorrent, you should stay online so others can get that file from you. well bit torrent is a torrent files, meaning a sharing file, to get a torrent file and view it you'll have get a torrent downloader like azureus, torrent then you can open now the file

u need a client application to open them .. utorrent, bitcomet, azureus , ect ...
