I have been asked to work temporarily for 3 months while someone takes a leave of absence. I presently receive unemployment benefits. working for this company, I will be getting paid without being on payroll and therefore will receive a 1099 to file taxes since I will be paid straight out. How does this effect my unemployment benefits and what steps do I need to take to inform (if i have to) EDD of my temp position?

Thanks in Advance

You should report the income to the EDD as soon as you start "working". That will reduce or stop your unemployment. The 1099 thing may not be legal if you are returning to a job that you were paid wages but that is a different issue.

In Texas the amount of money that you received by working is deducted from your unemployment check BUT that increases the length of time that the benefits will last. Your unemployment checks only last until the money in your account runs out. You have to report any income and how much, otherwise you are in big trouble with the IRS and Unemployment.

Yes you need to inform them. You won't get your full unemployment comp payments, and might not get any, during that time, but if you haven't found a job yet when the temp job ends, the uc payments should resume.

easily, it may paintings. they only ask why you left your final activity, no longer why you left your previous activity. you need to nevertheless have the potential to apply earnings from the activity you have been fired from as credit. Your previous denial could have lined a penalty of probably various weeks of reward, or a prohibition on submitting for as much as a three hundred and sixty 5 days. if that's the case, you need to comprehend it, and obey this manner of prohibition. i'm no longer asserting it is inevitably the case.
