Listening to music and watching Jdramas is a good way to ASSIST in learning Japanese but in no way should be your primary source of learning.

That being said, I have very little knowledge of Japanese. I started, like many people, by watching anime in Japanese with subtitles. But lots of time you cant go by Anime because words are often spoken formally and lots of slang is used.
(Don't laugh) I am a Sailor Moon fan. So I watched the series in Japanese. Also watch the live action series. It's cheesy but it'll help.

As far as music goes (again don't laugh) I listened/listen to alot of the Hello Project groups (ex. Morning Musume, Minimoni, Puchimoni ect) Their music is fun to dance to and you can go online and find translations and the Romanji for it to get a grasp of sentence structure. Also Ayumi Hamasaki is always a good choice. Her music is fun and easy to follow.

I dont watch Jdramas, but one I really liked was called Gokusen (ごくせん) or Great Teach Onizuka is another awesome one.

Don't forget, if you really want to learn Japanese, these things will only help you. You can't learn Japanese just from listening to music and watching dramas.

Good luck!

Save your cash. You're no longer going to be trained Japanese in your possess. I realize you are keen to get began and suppose you can be capable to be trained plenty however it isn't going to occur. Anything you do "educate" your self will simply be memorized. Why is that dangerous? Because you will not be capable to mention whatever external of the ones memorized terms and you will not appreciate how the sentence itself works. Even even though books and CDs declare to educate you Japanese grammar they do not. Only a instructor can educate you. If your center institution does not educate Japanese then wait. If your prime institution does not educate Japanese then wait. You have the option of going to any tuition you wish and so you'll be able to cross to 1 that teaches Japanese. And if there are schools local you that educate Japanese, you would most of the time attend them whilst you are in prime institution and get credit score for each prime institution AND tuition. You too can touch your state's Japan Society (simply google your state + Japan Society) to peer if they'll be opening any new categories. They have categories external of simply constant institution hours so that you might be capable to make it.
