Catholics are "saved" and spiritually born again (and again and again) through:
+ Belief in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior
+ Living the Gospel to the best of our ability
+ Daily rededicating ourselves to Jesus Christ
+ Receiving new life in Baptism
+ The forgiveness of sins through the Sacrament of Reconciliation
+ The infusion of the Holy Spirit by the laying on of hands in Confirmation
+ Taking the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ into our bodies through the Eucharist (Holy Communion)
+ Even during the penitential season of Lent
These are a few ways that Catholics are spiritually born again. We usually just don't use those words.
With love in Christ.

hmm....well, in 8th grade we are all still kids. Even though some of our parents teach us Faith and we know God at 14, most of our peers don't. I asked my sister about this one, and she said to just wait, and to not worry so much about it now, because in highschool a lot of people find God, also in college. But she said that so many people found God since she was in 8th grade, people who she would've never thought to. Hope this helped. By the way, who is this one freind that grew up around a Baptist family?? Is he cute?? haha, and my sister was Catholic too =] BYEE!!

*Is Catholic*
Your Catholic friends have heard of salvation, but the problem is that they do not understand what you call salvation.
In the modern world 8th grade is a little bit too young to really get into the differences between Catholic and Baptist theology beyond a superficial level.
Let me put it this way, what you are calling salvation is what a Catholic will call justification. Even then there are major differences.
The best thing to understand the Catholic understanding of salvation is what St. Augustine said The God who created thee without thee will not save thee without thee. That simply means that whether or not one ends up in heaven is dependent, in part, upon the LIFE LONG activities and choices of that individual.
Or put it this way: The Blood of the Cross alone justifies man and opens heaven to him. Entering heaven depends, in part, on man's own works, however small or large they might be.
Now I beg of you, please do not bother your Catholic friends unless you are trying to help them be better Catholics. Trying to get Catholics to give up their beliefs is not cool.
If you want to read a really good book for your age try A FATHER WHO KEEPS HIS PROMISES by HAHN. (might stretch you a bit but not too bad)

Don't worry about showing your Catholic friends "the way". They'll be just fine without your help. Just because they don't believe the same things you do doesn't make them wrong. You all believe in God. Just leave it at that. Otherwise, you'll end up alienating your Catholic friends, and they won't want to hang around you. Live and let live.

"There are not over a hundred people in the United States who hate the Catholic Church. There are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church—which is, of course, quite a different thing. These millions can hardly be blamed for hating Catholics because Catholics “adore statues;” because they “put the Blessed Mother on the same level with God;” because they “say indulgence is a permission to commit sin;” because the Pope “is a Fascist;” because the Church “is the defender of Capitalism.” If the Church taught or believed any one of these things, it should be hated, but the fact is that the Church does not believe nor teach any one of them. It follows then that the hatred of the millions is directed against error and not against truth. As a matter of fact, if we Catholics believed all of the untruths and lies which were said against the Church, we probably would hate the Church a thousand times more than they do.
If I were not a Catholic, and were looking for the true Church in the world today, I would look for the one Church which did not get along well with the world; in other words, I would look for the Church which the world hates. My reason for doing this would be, that if Christ is in any one of the churches of the world today, He must still be hated as He was when He was on earth in the flesh. If you would find Christ today, then find the Church that does not get along with the world. Look for the Church that is hated by the world, as Christ was hated by the world. Look for the Church which is accused of being behind the times, as Our Lord was accused of being ignorant and never having learned. Look for the Church which men sneer at as socially inferior, as they sneered at Our Lord because He came from Nazareth. Look for the Church which is accused of having a devil, as Our Lord was accused of being possessed by Beelzebub, the Prince of Devils. Look for the Church which the world rejects because it claims it is infallible, as Pilate rejected Christ because he called Himself the Truth. Look for the Church which amid the confusion of conflicting opinions, its members love as they love Christ, and respect its voice as the very voice of its Founder, and the suspicion will grow, that if the Church is unpopular with the spirit of the world, then it is unworldly, and if it is unworldly, it is other-worldly. Since it is other-worldly, it is infinitely loved and infinitely hated as was Christ Himself. ... the Catholic Church is the only Church existing today which goes back to the time of Christ. History is so very clear on this point, it is curious how many miss its obviousness..."

lets see
1.its 8th grade-not many people are really involved with their faith in 8th grade
2. just because they're catholic doesnt mean their practicing
3. how is it scary that they dont know what salvation means, do you know what 'transubstantiation' means?
now for you're question, ways you can do what? define salvation? or convert them to baptist? give them a dictionary for the former and give them a pamphlet about baptists for the latter

OMG, I just can't understand why other people don't believe in the exact same fairy tale that I was told to believe?
Look- you're in 8th grade, your dad's a preacher. You haven't yet had a chance to even figure out what YOU think, only what's been fed into your brain. So- I apologize for making fun of you- but really. Let people believe anything they want.

hmm, where do you go to school? I'm a senior in a catholic high-school and I doubt there is one person who doesn't know since they learn about it in catechism class everday and church. Even if they don't practice catholicism salvation would be the last thing they didn't know off.

If you have to build up your religion by knocking another one down, that exposes a flaw in your doctrine. Catholicism does not entail the demeaning of other Christians denominations. Why does yours?

Why don't you have some discussions with them? Maybe you should convert to Catholicism, too. I understand your version of salvation and why you think it's important. I just don't understand why your version is important because Your way of seeing things is totally different from mine because I'm Catholic, too.
