or will he possibly run the number 3 since Richard Childress pays the big bucks to keep that number? He is taking his sponsor with him, and he will only go with a Chevy.

The number 8 will still belong to DEI, but Teresa could always negotiate to let him take it. He will be taking Bud with him and he will stay with Chevy. That sponsorship makes him the 30 million dollar free agent. I don't want him to drive #3 or drive for RCR. I think that he needs to get away from that or he will ALWAYS be compared to his dad. He wants to be his own man now. Driving the #3 will not give him his own legacy, just add onto his dad's. Personally, I would love to see him go to the Hendricks team. Just think how great it would be to watch him actually have winning teammates who will help push him into the winning circle.

If Dale Earnhardt, Jr. goes to Richard Childress Racing he does not need the number 8. He will be driving the black number 3 Budweiser Chevrolet (can't be Goodwrench, they got out of racing)!!

He has said that bringing JR Motorsports to Cup is the last resort. I think it would be a mistake to do that. Look at Michael Waltrip. Not that Jr. would have the same problems. He has more money, Bud, and Chevy. But he will do better if he signs with one of the current Chevy super teams (Hendrick, Childress or Gibbs). I can imagine Jr. behind the wheel of a Hendrick car (again). If you were Rick Hendrick, would you think twice about firing Casey Mears or even Kurt Busch if Dale Earnhardt, Jr. called up and said he wanted to drive one of your cars and was bringing Budweiser along for the ride? Heck YEAH! I would, too!

BTW, I do not think RCR has had to pay anything to keep the number 3. NASCAR has let them keep it and not use it out of respect for Dale, Sr. If another team ended up with that number, I think you would see a big fan revolt.

It's really up to her whether or not she gives it up. She does own it. Just like Waltrip didn't take the number 15 when he left and Jarrett didn't take 88 when he left RYR. As far as the #3. That all depends on Richard Childress. He cal allow Jr to use that, but keep in mind that NASCAR is really in charge of that number at the end of the day. They may choose to retire that number. I still can't make up my mind as to whether or not I want to see Jr drive the number 3 or if I want it retired. I think he should drive it for one season then retire it. And yes he will take the sponsor with him. And I would say that there is a 99% chance he will drive a chevy. I also think that just because he made this announcement, his days with DEi may not be over. They could come back and offer what he wants and that may keep the company up and running. And the only way that company is going to survive, is if Jr is there.

I think the 8 will stay with DEI, but Jr. will be better off with either RCR or on his own. Truix Jr. would come over and join him. I think that would be the best move that both of them could ever make. Let Theresa be on her own and see how much time it will take for her to loose DEI. I think it is a shame that she wants to give the majority ownership to her family and not keep it in the Earnhardt family.

Dale Jr has said he doesn't think he would drive the number 3 out of respect for his dad and the legacy he left behind that #. Most people would agree. Plus I think he wants to start fresh with a clean slate and a new number. Hopefully he'll announce it soon so non Jr fans won't get too irritated with us Jr fans, but hey for all you non fans, think about how you'd feel if Gordon left the 24 Dupont Chevrolet, or Tony Stewart left Gibbs. It's big news to us because it concerns our driver, that's all.

I think what will happen is that Jr will leave, the money, the sponsors will go with him, he will form his own business, his step mom's business stock will tank and her company will be worth nothing since JR won't be apart of the package and then Jr will buy out the step mom and combined both companies into one.

He will keep his number..JR...will win in the end when the company...Greed never gets you anywhere and thats to the mother.

Soooo....Kelly thinks Richard Childress Racing is extra advantageous for Jr. than Hendrick Motorsports? Hendrick Motorsports...the creme de l. a. creme of NASCAR, the suitable of the suitable, the only with a team it quite is finding to 4-peat for the 1st time interior the historic previous of the sport...that Hendrick Motorsports? If she tells Jr. to provide up his holiday at HMS for a gap at RCR, she's an fool. If he does it..he's an fool. consistent with probability now that Jr's in his mid-30's he ought to oh, i don't understand...commence thinking for...himself?

He is the ONLY one who would EVER bring #3 out on the track again...and would have his father's blessing...How cool would that be?...Dale, Jr. switches to RCR, and drives the #3 to a championship...I think Teresa owns the #8...

If enough money changes hands (DEI needs all it can get) the number 8 might leave DEI, but I doubt that would happen. I think it's also very doubtful you will see the #3 back on track in 2008, either.
