Haaaa! Haaaa! This is a joke, right?
A salesman ALWAYS tries to talk you into doing something you would not normally do. By whatever means. That's how they earn a living.
It's just business. At least I've never met a truly honest one yet!

I would like to think so, but it may depend on the type of car that you are looking for. If you are looking at a new car, then they would tend to be more honest. Although, any salesman will try to get the most money out of you, that they can. That is their job after all.

Just be sure to get everything in writing, and do not sign any document with a blank space on it. I learned that the hard way, some years ago. good luck

Consider this: their livelihood depends upon selling cars. They must sell or they won't have food to eat. They have families and they need money for a lot of other things too! With a single goal of selling cars to anyone with money to buy cars; how many people would stop for a minute and think about whether they are perceived as honest?
I think they do whatever they can.

I've found that the sales people are usually honest. It's usually the management that can only see the short-term $$$$ that force the sales people into compromising positions. To keep thier jobs they MUST do what management tells them and that is totally driven by quotas. Honesty goes out the window when a quota needs to be met.

Boy this one particular is a toughie. i'm going to ought to circulate with the used automobile salesmen. they can help understand what you want to hearken to just to make the sale. insurance salesmen lie too, and get you to purchase extra insurance than you incredibly need. i assume the used automobile guy feels like extra of a creep because of the fact as quickly as you sign the papers it quite is it. he's out of your life. however the insurance guy will attempt to maintain you satisfied to maintain your corporation.

Car salespeople are people like anyone else. Some are good, some are not. Some lie, some are clueless. Some make stuff up if they don't know the answer or give wrong answers they don't know are wrong.

Kinda like what you get around here.

depends on the place. Some yes, Some no.

Many at new dealers are, many at used car dealers arent.

I would much rather buy from a private seller though.
