Damn you make your point clearly and logically! I like that.. and yes you have raised a very interesting question. I have noticed over my lifetime that "religious" and "hypocritical" are 2 words that just seem to keep popping up together. It is always the worst offenders that seem to preach the loudest, and it is always the guilty who accuse the innocent.. that is not to say that Atheists or other non-religious people dont make the same mistakes or do the same things it just means they dont seem to scream out "Do as I say not as I do". While committing the very acts they so vehemently oppose, in secret of course. Case in point, my Uncle is a Christian... he and his wife did missionary work in Brazil, on the side he was screwing girls there while preaching at the same time. Among other things that according to Christianity no good Christian should do. They have 4 children, these kids were not allowed to watch TV only read religious books etc the whole nine yards of lifetime indoctrination.. while me and my 3 siblings were never restricted in this way and not raised religiously at all. All of my cousins have by this time had children out of wedlock, rebelled insanely, and gone the totally opposite way from what they were taught, basically they went wild as soon as they could because they were so tired of being oppressed all that time. My siblings and I did not do any of those things, in fact if people didnt know better they would think we were the religious ones because our behaviour was much more conservative than that of our Christian cousins. The point is, the reason religious people are often the ones doing all the things other religious fanatics are preaching about, is because the way they are raised forces them into some kind of rebellion.. I know alot of people will yell at me for this but the way I see it is that the more a child is indoctrinated the more likely they are to try and break out of that mental prison and escape the bondage of religion. My cousins are normal people, and it has been nice to see them break out of their shells and confront the world with an open mind despite the horrible oppression of their upbringing... not a one of them is christian anymore and that says alot. They overcame the condemnation of their religion to commit the very acts that they were told not to their entire lives, I on the other hand made a free choice not to do any of those things just because I felt no compunction to break out and do so.. I was never taught about sin or anything like that I learned about everything on my own... it has made me a far more balanced person than my cousins are. I think religion needs to face the facts and ask why it is that so many of their children raised under their religion rebel and do the very things they so violently condemn in others.

As a Christian, I say you raised a very good point. There are too many people not practicing what they preach. You should take into consideration though that many of these babies are born or aborted by young girls, who generally are not the ones doing the preaching. I am a pro-life Christian who feels that Americans should be smart enough and moral enough to not have so many unwanted pregnancies, regardless of what your religious beliefs are. It isn't good for society, the mothers or the babies. I also know that people are not perfect, even Christians, but we could do better.
God Bless.

Some Christians raise their children in a strict and sexually repressive way that provokes their children rebel against religion and to feel greater motivation to explore their sexuality.
Atheists and the children of atheists are not more likely to be promiscuous than religious persons or religious parents' children. And there are a lot of atheists who are against abortion. So, no religious group has a monopoly over morality.

Markyyy, I like this question. Keep this type of thinking going. The US also has the world's highest crime rate. Don't forget that. But, as a Christian, I don't think a "Christian" is a "Christlike" person. Let's not to confuse these two concepts. I myself am not Christlike yet, but I have been trying. Please wish me good luck. Thanks. I'm in China where only 3% of the population are Christians, but we don't have a big crime problem or teenager preganancy problem either.

lol that's crazy. the only abortion i had was from a molar pregnancy. which i had to have because if i didn't I'd die.
what a molar pregnancy means is that i am pregnant but the baby's cells haven't formed into a baby. its just a clump of cells, with no heartbeat or anything and eventually turns into a kind of cancer. sucks i was very sad about it.
i am atheist-- was a christian

Good question. The same could go for crime. How many atheist are in prison? Very few. These Christians preach their bibles yet can't keep their legs closed or the babies in their belly's despite how much they speak against killing. It is so infuriating and hypocritical that I just wish they would grow a brain and realize how stupid they look.

Now, Markyy, you know that the women having those pregnancies weren't "real" Christians. They just said they were and they Christians know this because they have the uncanny ability to see into other peoples hearts and minds.

You make a very good point. I wish Christians would stop trying to interfere so much with politics and stop legislating their morality.

I've never understood why Christians are so upset about homosexuals -- who, after all, don't account for many abortions or divorces.

Well considering it takes 9 months to pop out one baby then I would say no........unless you were speaking of triplets which would be extremely good luck to have a set of three every year.
