ok.
well i honestly have to say, i dont the answer to your specifics.
but, in order to lose wait, not only is excersice needed, but u also need to maintain a very healthy diet.
try to eat 3 meals a day, and maybe 1 or 2 snacks. eating 1 meal rather then 1/2 a meal and snacks through-out the day is proven to help lose weight.
also, drink plenty of water. this cleans ou your kidney, making it easier for the kidney to reach other foods.
as for excersise, yes, do sit-ups and push-ups everyday. around 3 sets of 25 should help.
but also, instead of going straight to running, power walk.
it is also proved that power walking has many of the same benifits as running.
try powerwalking 5 miles. i know it may sound like a lot. but take a break between evey mile.
keep in mind, that you won't see results immediatly. immediate results arn't always good, because it increases ur chance of regaining the weight.
plan on losing maybe 3 pounds a week. no more.
so, eat healthy and excercise.
its the combination that helps.
love, nikki

One pound equals 3500 calories. You can either cut down on 500 calories a day from your diet, or cut 250 a day, and burn the other 250 (which is the ideal thing to do).
Stop eating sweets, sugary foods and fried foods. Change white bread and go for whole wheat. Drink skim milk.
Then go outside and ride bike for an hour, play ball, walk at a fast pace for a couple of blocks, dance in your room for an hour. The choices are unlimited.
Any kind of constant (this means do it for the whole hour, without stopping for long) activity is good and it will tone and firm your legs. Swimming is also great for burning fat, toning up and losing that belly your grandma and mom hate.
Just so you know, muscle does weigh more than fat, but it takes less room. Which means, you might not see fast results on the scale, but your clothes will actually start getting bigger for you. Don't let this keep you from exercising and being active.

The only reason sit-ups might make you gain weight is if you do them so much that you're gaining muscle, because muscle weighs more than fat. I don't think you can equate X-amount of sit-ups to burning X-amount of fat, but I think if you simply do a moderate amount of exercise (20-30 min) a day and eat smaller portions at mealtime, then you will see results in a few weeks.
Better than doing sit-ups: If you want to lose fat, cardio workouts are supposed to be more efficient (walking, jogging, swimming, bicycling).

You've got a lot of vague semi-faulty info.
Yes it will make you gain weight, but in a VERY small amount. They're easy work outs which will tone you, not make you bulk up. Heavy weight lifting makes you bulk up.
Sit ups are crap, crunches are better in every way. Sit ups waste energy in the hip flexors and most of the time strain your neck. There are tons of crunch variations to give you a great ab workout, but you didn't ask for them so I'll move on
Stronger abs will make fat cells stick to the muscle better, so you'll appear more toned.
Sit ups and push ups rarely make people lose weight. They're mainly anaerobic workouts, whereas you lose weight from aerobic workouts, like running or biking. Again, you didn't ask so I'll move on.
They can make you lose weight in a way. They add to your muscle mass, which increases your metabolism making you burn more Calories during regular activities such as, living, or reading.
1 pound of fat is about 3000 Calories, so burn that much extra and you lose it, space that out, in about a week, so lose about 300 Caloires a day. Thats only a few less bites at dinner.

OK First of all I come family of fitness gurus i would recommend running and walking around your block if your not near some kind of gym, then start to build muscle mass if you want. All sit-ups and push-ups do is tone your muscles that are already there. Everybody has abs believe it or not. But for the go to a doctor they can put you on the best plan for losing weight and toning up

Hi, sit ups and push ups are called bodyweight resistance excercises. They burn calories aswell as stimulate muscle fibres, both small and large fibres. The prefered method to lose fat is through diet control and cardio vascular excercises.
You will need to start performing some jogging, cycling, swimming, and generaly be active aswell as eat a clean diet (Cut out all junk, sugar)and drink plenty of water, at 12 years old you wont need to count calories, this could hinder your growth and have bad effects. Good luck.

exercise may make you gain weight since muscles weigh more than fat. You can not spot reduce. You will not lose fat in your stomach without losing fat all over. Your diet needs to be adjusted along with the exercise, and you should do some cardiovascular.

Each pound of body fat is made up of 3,500 extra calories. Sit ups and push ups may make you gain weight, but it's muscle weight (good weight). It will help you lose fat weight (bad weight).
