Butterfly: So when I try to tear apart a colleague’s paper in the review process I’m being hateful? Wow I thought I was trying to make their science better. I never knew that encouraging critical thinking was the same as hateful ranting.

I dunno... cuz I'm pretty cheerful!

But seriously, I think the assumption is generally that atheists must be totally bummed out because they won't get into eternal paradise after they pass.

A lot of people also assume that atheists are really "just mad at God", so of course they're angry angry people.

Well, considering the ones accusing atheists of being bitter, sour and cheerless, seem to be bitter, sour and cheerless themselves, I'm thinking projection?

And I'm afraid the only fix I can think of is if they all suddenly saw sense re: religion. They'd be much happier people without the fear that religion breeds.

As long as there is religion there will be incorrect notions of other peoples beliefs or lack there of. The religious folk in the world would love nothing more to believe that we atheists are sad depressed people. It makes them feel better about spending so much time trying to convert us.

I don't get it either. I big chunk of the comedians on here are atheists (though Father K says some really funny stuff). But we are the grouchy ones.

Edit: Our Avatars????? I am a little green man from Zetox that used to be on the Flintstones for pity sake. What is grouchy about that? Grim Jack is a smile. Go figure......

It comes from bitter, sour, and cheerless theists who were supposed to be happier because they chose the "right" religion.

People perceive things through the lens of their own life and understanding. Some people think they're the only ones who could ever be happy from their perspective. You can only do what you do and only they can change their minds or not.

quit making ranting blast against religions and those who choose to serve God. The rants just give it away for most (not all) atheist! We find it as offensive and obviously hate filled and angry when people blast religion for no apparent reason!
