Effexor works really well because it takes the highs and lows and evens them slightly. It's just plain easier to not give a damn and that's a plus for me anyway as a type A personality. Just try it or whichever you choose and go with it.

there is no way to say what will work for each person -its INDIVIDUAL. Dont base your choices of health care on anything a stranger/friend or family states about THEIR experience. It will depend on your health conditions and specific situation for you, then ou will go through a trial period to see what is best, always reporting back to your health care team/Dr whomever of any side effects/improvements/worsenings. Continue all your other wellness activities including counseling if you have access to it. Medications can take several weeks to get a good reult but improvement can still be felt before that time. Just dont give up..

www.crazymeds.org can give you lots of information about drugs and their side effects, but you need to keep in mind that not every anti-anxiety medication works the same way for everyone. i.e. what works for me, might not work for you.
Just take what your doctor gives you, make sure to give it time to work (at least a month) and tell them how you feel, don't keep anything from your doctor, because it keeps them from being able to diagnose and medicate you properly.

I was on Paxil, but it seemed to have some side effects. I switched to Lexapro, and it is better - for me. You too may have to try different meds to see which one is best.

Klonopin is a great drug for anxiety. You might also need an anti-depressant.
