Yes, waxing is VERY painful. And the first time is the worst. It is normal to have to take a "break" from the pain also. The bikini and underarm are the most painful for me.

I've tried home waxing a couple of times but it was a complete non starter: too painful, messy and ineffective. If you've got your heart set on waxing, go to a salon.
If you want to go the DIY route, you could try an epilator. I am a complete convert after having salon waxed and shaved for years. I have a Braun Silk Epil Soft Perfection which is brilliant. You can use it every day if you want and you get lovely smooth legs. It might hurt a bit the first time you do it but then it becomes virtually pain free (and I am a wuss when it comes to pain LOL). You'll find you have no stubble as the hairs grow back with a tapered end rather than a sharp cut end and your legs will be smooth as the hair comes out at the root.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

preserver, waxing is definitely the best way to get rid of unwanted hair, I have always found it uncomfortable, it dose get better and fewer hairs will eventually come through the more often you have it done, but being a wax virgin it will take 3 treatments to get the first lot of hair (as the hair grows in different stages) then about every 4-6 weeks after that, I would strongly advise you go to a salon though as if your hair is strong you might snap it off, making the regrowth the same as shaving, the hair will appear finer as it is pulled out by the root so its a new hair each time.

At least the hair came off when you first did it. I remember waxing my legs for the first time with my friend and NOTHING came off and it hurt!!!! I prefer using a trimmer to shave everything EXCEPT my bikini area. I use a razor for that but only because I'm careful and able to give myself a brazilian *shave? lol* with no trouble. But waxing?? I hated it and I also have a high tolerence for pain. When I shave or trim, it takes about 1 1/2 months for stubble to show anyhow :D

I got waxed yesterday - legs, bikini, underarm and eyebrows and it wasn't that painful. I think the first time was. If I was you I would go to a beauty therapist to get it done or get a friend to do it for you. I don't think it works very well to do it yourself because you tend to be too gentle which actually makes it hurt even more.
It does get less painful the more you do it and the hairs grow back thiner and finer. Don't expect miracles though and maybe just to a half leg (up to the knee only) to begin with.
Hope this helps!

It takes more then 2 times for waxing to make finer hair. I waxed my eyebrows for 3 years before it made any difference. I have fine blond hairs. I tried waxing the legs and had to have my husband pull it off I only did ONE strip and that was it I would rather shave!!!!Get a good razor one of those triple blades. And shave every other day.

waxing is very painful especially your 1st time but then what did you expect your pulling your hairs out!! Try going to a beauty salon and getting waxed by a professional it does not hurt as much when some one else does it plus they know how to do it so its less painfull and quicker. Also try taking a nurofen an hour before.

Well first and foremost don't do it a week before your period. Your pain threshold gets really low and you will stick to the ceiling in shock!!! (any good beautician will tell you this!!) If you do it yourself make sure that you don't pull the wax strip up when you pull it off - always keep your hand very close to your body and pull backwards. Strangely enough I find that if I make a loud noise as I pull it doesn't hurt as much - strange eh!!!!
I use the Veet wax strips that you rub together between your hands to make them warm. I find they do the job really well.

The kind of wax you use makes a big difference! Ask a friend/mom to assist you, you might try holding the skin tightly, once you get the technique it'll be alright. For me it hurts the smae everytime, but avoid doing waxing a few days before or during your period!(ouch)

Ahh Bonnie B. You'd look grand in a kilt.
You think the leg wax hurts? Wait 'til you do your bikini waxing, mustn't forget it.
You'll have all the lads chasing you on the beach.
