21 "Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' 23And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'

The people who have only faith and who pray in public with lots of show will be rebuked. But the people who love the Lord and perform His Will and do good works will enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

Only those "doing the will" of his Father are true Christians; notice that they must be "doing" what YHWH/Jehovah says through His messengers in the 66 books of inspired Scriptures.

Those that say they dont have to have to "do" anything are the "many" who are false "christians". Their "faith without works is dead." Those who merely want to say the words "I accept Jesus as my saviour" and then go and not be "doing" anything Christ did (see below) are those that live contrary to "the will of [his] Father in heaven"

but by comparison, there are very "few" true Christians finding the narrow road to everlasting life in paradise.

being a true Christian is to follow the example of Christ (1 Peter 2:21; John 13:15; 1 John 2:6) including all the things he taught his Apostles to write for our instruction (2 Timothy 3:16)

Yhshua/Jesus warned that there would be many false christians, claiming to believe in him yet not doing the will of his Father. And that there would only be a few *true* Christians doing the will of his Almighty Father YHWH/Jehovah (see Matthew 7:13-23)

So what did Christ do that we must do in order to be *true* Christians?

1. Pray to and serve "the only true God" (see John 17:3) the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (see Acts 3:13) whose name is YHWH

John 14:28
Mark 10:18
Matthew 26:39
John 8:17-18
Mark 13:32
Matthew 20:23

2. love everyone (see Matthew 22:39; Mark 12:31) and never harm or kill another human being
see also;
Matthew 5:44-48
Matthew 26:52
Luke 6:27
Luke 10:27
John 13:34, 35
John 15:17

Romans 12:17
Romans 13:10
2 Timothy 2:24
1 Corinthians 16:14
1 John 3:9-15
1 John 4:20

3. Preach YHWH's Kingdom which He has appointed His only-begotten Son Yhshua to rule over
see;
Matthew 24:14
Luke 4:43
Luke 10:1-3
Acts 5:42
Acts 8:4
Acts 20:20
1 Corinthians 9:16
Romans 10:15
2 Timothy 4:2-5
Matthew 4:23a
Matthew 9:35a
Luke 9:6a
1 Peter 2:21

4. be "no part of the world" of human kingdoms/governments/politics
see;
John 18:36
Daniel 2:44
Luke 4:5-8
James 4:4
John 15:19
John 17:14
Acts 5:29
1 John 2:15
Romans 12:2
John 14:30
2 Corinthians 4:4
Ephesians 2:2
1 John 5:19

5. Yhshua said that many false christians would be identified because they would not be doing the will of YHWH (Matthew 7:21)
So we must be careful not to mix traditions, rituals and festivals originally designed for false pagan Roman gods into our worship of the only true God.
See (and note that everywhere it says LORD is where Christ‘s Father‘s name YHWH/Jehovah used to be);
Deuteronomy 12:30
Exodus 34:15
Deuteronomy 20:18
Deuteronomy 8:19
Deuteronomy 13:13
Deuteronomy 18:10-13
Deuteronomy 32:16
Judges 2:3
Jeremiah 7:17-20
Acts 7:41-43

naturally, no one would ever follow the above examples of Christ if they did not believe and put faith in the fact that he was sent by his Almighty Father YHWH as our only means of salvation. One must accept and believe and have faith that Yhshua was sent by YHWH as our saviour.

agape!

This is talking about the majority of christians. It can not be talking about atheist or agnostics or any other ist because The people are saying Lord Lord to him.

They are false Christians having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof.

They claim and act as is the law was done away and they get to pick and choose which laws they keep. Then they will tell you that they are saved by faith and not works. Isn't the fact that they think they can pick and chose which of Gods laws to obey and nail anything to the cross they don't like really living a salvation by works.

It's even worse than that. Because they don't love the truth God has sent a delusion on them. Even though you can show them plainly what the scripture says they will hold to there foolish belief system and tell attack you for teaching salvation by works. And yet most of us who believe that we should follow God's law recognise and appreciate the fact that we are not saved by works but by the grace of God. We keep the law not to gain salvation but because we love God.

Love isn't a feeling. It's an action verb. Look it up in the greek. Actions speak louder than words they say. I will show you my faith by my works but faith without works is dead. It is no faith at all. Remember the demons believe and tremble. Do you tremble? Do you think you can mock God by your direct disobiedience and he will say welcome home.

No my brothers and sisters its not so. You had better repent. Believe your scripture and not man. If you interpretion of the new testiment contridicts the Old then its not the old testiment that is at fault Its you.

There was no new testiment in the time of Timothy and yet Paul told him that the scripture (old testiment) would make him wise unto salvation in Messiah Yahshua and that it is God Breathed (you wish to do away with portions of this God breathed document, no wonder the atheist laugh at you. You make a mockery of God everytime you say these things) and is profitable for doctrine instruction in righteousness correction and reproof. But still you wish to ignore or write it off

Repent! The Kingdom of God is at hand.

Seriously? Pentacostals. Can you think of any other large (many) identifiable group that meets that description of prophesying, casting out demons, and performing miracles? They live by feelings, not by faith which is the only way to have eternal life. They are sign seekers, and Jesus said, an "evil and adterous generation seeks for signs, and no signs will be given."

Jesus was speaking to a Hebrew crowd so most likely this was spoken in Aramaic or Hebrew.

He was speaking about the teachers of religion.

The word used here in the OT equivalent is "perversions".

This would be perversions of God's Word.

They teach a perverted form of God's Word therefore are not followers of God.

Satan attempted to pervert and twist the Bible to his use during Jesus's 40 days in the wilderness.

This then tells us the leaders, teachers, and cristendomites are following their fathers' example and perverting God's Word to their own use.

I think Jesus meant that if you live your life being obedient to his father and all that his father has commanded then you will be doing his father's will and thus will be living out holy, godly lives and will be eligible to enter the kingdom of heaven. By just knowing these works is not enough, you must practice them.

Hi Tony L,

When Jesus spoke these words in the gospel of Matthew he was distinguishing between true believers and false believers.

In verse 21 Jesus makes this distinction by saying it's not just those who claim they know God who truly knows God, but those who practice the things of God.

Those who recognize God's grace in their lives and realize that their righteousness comes from their faith in God and not in their works (Didn't we do this or that in your name?)

Jesus in another verse says by their fruits you will know them. What do our actions and lifestyles (our life practices say about our faith in God?) This is why Jesus says: depart from me, you who practice lawlessness (living life as if God's law is not written upon our hearts).

It's a good warning (an exhortation) from the Lord to put our trust and priorities in God's kingdom and to live like Jesus to fulfill the will of the Father and not simply our own wills.

Hope that helps. Kindly,

Nickster

i think he's speaking to 1) everyone who follows their own imperfect wisdom and creates their own form of worship without regard for seeking to find what God requires of them, 2) persons who follow fad religions, cults, sects, and other people instead of seeking God, and 3) people who say that they are "doing Gods will", but are really living their lives in an immoral or debased way, as if God can't see the bad things they've done.

i also think he's speaking to people who denounce religion, organized religion, or worship that doesn't allow them to practice the things they wish to practice and they give God what they think he requires and not the worship God asks for in the bible. i think he's speaking to people who don't have faith in the bible.

people may worship in private, and they may worship the way they see fit, but in the end, it could very well NOT be enouph. just cause you went to church every sunday doesn't mean God will let you into his Kingdom. just because you profess to have God in your heart, or on your mind, or in your life, doesn't mean that your doing "Gods will".

on the last day, you could be surprised to find that there actually WAS a God and your "Lord, Lord, i didn't DO what you wanted but i BELIEVED!" could be answered with, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!"

that was a really good question.

this is for the people that did "good" and thought that by being good they could go to heaven and also to the people that were hipocret. Doing good doesn't get u into heaven accepting that Jesus died for your sins and turning away from ur old ways will get u to heaven. also there are people who call themselves christian but don't really practice anything, and then there are those who do practice something but do it with the wrong intentions....power money ect.
