...really just scared, lonely people looking for hope in a dark world?

From the comments and questions I see them make and ask, I don't think they are bad people, I just think they are lost as most all Christians were until we were brought into God's glorious light. As Christians, we have an obligation to defend the faith yes, but also to love and pray for those who have not accepted the light yet.

We are not scared lonley people, we are not lost either.....we simply see the world as it is. We don't need to be saved, I'm perfectly happy the way I am.

No.

Are theists just scared, looking for a way to deny the inevitability of death?

From the comments and questions I see them make and ask, I don't think they are bad people, I just think they are deluded as most all atheists were until we were brought into common sense's glorious light. As atheists , we have an obligation to debunk the faith yes, but also to love and hope for those who have not accepted the light yet.

Accepted the light?
Lost Christians.

Do you even hear how pompeous this sounds. As if the Christain faith is the only accpeted thing and pity the atheist for not seeing it. Hmm I guess pity the Muslims, Wiccans, Agnostics, Jews ect ect. Dont make this an atheist thing.

Ohh poor atheist.

I am so sorry you are lost, wandering in darkness and with the truth concealed from you. The beautiful world of secular humanism, which calls on no-one to pretend things exist when they don't, is the way to shake of the oppressive shackles that bind you to your delusion. We will close our eyes really, really tight and clench our fists a bit and hope that you come to your senses. Thank all that is good that I have seen the light and am not lost in the blind wilderness you wander so aimlessly.

I have a boyfriend, a group of friends, and a family. I don't believe in an afterlife and I continue to function on a daily basis without being scared. I am frightened of theocracy in all its forms, but that is what I'm here trying to fend off.

Just because someone has a different view to you dosn't mean they are bad people.
Who says you are good anyway? Christians sin just like anyone else.
Live and let live.

Your the one reaching out to some unknown, "higher being", God that hasn't left, or shown any solid evidence to support its existence. And atheist are the lonely ones looking for hope? I think not.

I agree. They spend a lot of time questioning something they claim not to believe in. We should pray for them whether they like it or not. I thank God for all those that prayed for me to find the way.Glory to God.

Doesn't that describe most people? I just choose not to believe in some invisible friend to make myself feel better about it. I confront my fears and make as many friends as I can. If the thought of a god brings you comfort, that's great, but don't confuse that with evidence of a god's existence.

Do unto others... that is ALSO in the light... accept it!
it is not God that I have a problem with... it is some of his followers! Why are you afraid? Defence = fear.
