Presumably this was also Pope Innocent III's argument when he ordered the extermination of the Cathars?

Now do you see how silly an argument it is?

Uh... Innocent III did authorise the extermination of the Cathars as well as the persecution of the Manicheans. It may have been a papal legate who was present during most of the killing but lets not confuse who gave the approval.

The dude is a hate monger. He emailed me the other day questioning a statement I made with all this support your statement, none of this is true without studies, we can't believe anything you say because you are biased blah blah blah. To which I sent him articles supporting everything I said including the fact that it was man writing the bible and not anyone else.

He will continue to preach hatred and intolerance and is one of those people I wish hitler had killed off.

It probably was. My argument is silly, was silly and will remain silly. This does not lessen the fact that Hitler did what he did precisely to try to purify the human genome. It was repulsive and offensive.

I will agree that what he did was not directly akin to natural selection, except of course, unless one wants to argue that his brain evolved the way it did to allow him to concoct such an assinine argument.

I am NOT racist, nor was I using evolution to support racism. There is ONE race: human. However, aren't you aware that Hitler used evolution to teach that there was more than one race? The ridiculous argument I made was precisely because I know that evolution can be an exceedingly dangerous idea when taken in the fashion that Hitler did. I had not considered the idea that evolution is now taken to mean "survival of the fit enough," so on this point I stand corrected.

I personally would never advocate the extermination of any set of people precisely because I do NOT believe in the concept of race.

Lastly, no matter how loudly or often anyone proclaims it, merely saying that someone is a Christian does not make it so. Hitler was most definitely NOT "one of our own," especially in light of the fact that a Christian is as a Christian DOES.

Hitler was Catholic, and the Catholic church is about as apostate as you can get. Are there some catholics who are the genuine article? Not if they believe the catholic catechism. If they don't hold to their own catechism, can they be called catholic? I think not.

Social Darwinism is just plain wrong, and I was merely interested in seeing whether or not any of you believed it, and if not, why not. Is it offensive and stupid? You bet. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Sorry. I'm not making the connection. Pope Innocent did not order the extermination of the Cathars. He certainly didn't order an extermination in order to "purify" Christianity.

Pope Innocent ordered the kings of the area to keep the heretics in check. Instead it was a massacre. Over and over again.
