It's actually not as bad as you think it will be, but it's worse than a lobe piercing...however, it's better than the rest of the cartilage in your ear (rook, tragus, anti-tragus, conch, etc). There's no way to "test out the pain" but it will just be a sharp stab possible coupled with a "popping" noise and it will be over in two seconds. It'll be tender for a couple months, and will probably take from 4-12 months to heal. Make sure you get it done with a needle, to avoid infection, amateur piercing, and shattered cartilage.

by no skill heard of that piercing place. I pierced my greater ear with a thumb tack. It did not harm in any respect... and that i've got low discomfort tolerance. in case you're uncertain, Piercing Pagoda continuously does all piercings everywhere.. it is going to be on your community mall. If Merle Norman does not do greater ear don't get your ears pierced at Claire's... Ugh.. ick. very properly, i'm getting off subject count number. solid luck and revel interior the ears, my pal.

You really should have this done by a professional. This is More complicated then going through the ear lobe and a lot more possibilities of infection.

i cant think of a way to "test it out" but it is more painful than earlobe piercings. also it stays very tender for a couple weeks.
