I know it sounds silly, but you may have to do your homework to prevent some humiliation on any level. How close are you with this person? Do you work with them or is this someone from a distance and you've never even met them?

My thoughts are be genuine. Every girl loves a man who is subtly flirty- whether they're taken or not, so if they're not attached or that relationship is not concrete, your friendly flirtiness may get you in!

em...the simplist thing is to just ask. however, if you want to go the hard but not embarrasing way, do the following. this is assuming your friends with someone that is friends also with the person you like. In this case, get them to talk to the person you lke, and find out. If they DO like you, gratz. here is the next step: get that same person to convince the person to ask you out. If all else fails, ask yourself.

Have a friend ask, if you dont have any friends then that person probably doesnt like you either.

You can ask them, but that's bold. If it's that unclear that you don't know chances are he doesn't like you back.
