No you are safe as long as they said they were over 18. If it was a police sting they would have made sure you knew the the girl you were chatting with said they were under 18. You can meet an adult anywhere and anyhow you like.

Why are you so paranoid? If you have reason to believe that she is under the age of consent, don't meet her. But if the cops are doing a sting, they are trying to catch out sex offenders, and they blatantly lie about the age so that they can do this. There is no crime in meeting someone who you think is legal. The crime would be in whether you were to pursue a relationship with her if she wasn't.
I met my partner online, when I was 18, he was 23, and he had no reason to believe what I was saying either. You should be able to tell reasonably how old she is anyway, does she sound like she could be younger?

All I can say is watch yourself. There's a lot of crazies online. Even if she's not underage, you never know who's on the other end of the computer. It could be some 50 year old dude -- you never know.
I met one person though Craigslist with the intent of purchasing something, and got completely duped.
Whatever you do, if she isn't 21 and is asking for you to bring booze or anything like that, don't do it.

you can only get arrested if this woman is under the legal age. 20 or 21 is fine you can't get arrested for that. the police are always online to try to find predators but if you seem really concerned with her age, that will show them that your not a predator and are just looking to meet a nice woman.

On Dateline they arrest men deliberately trying to find little boys and girls[underage]. She told you she was 20 and you think she's 20, so you're not trying to molest anybody. If they do put you on Dateline, Ashton Kutcher will probablely just be standing behind a corner waiting to jump out and say "Punk'd!" Go for it!

If she said she's 20, I doubt it's a police sting operation. If you've seen those shows on TV, they involve someone pretending to be an openly underage person.
With that said, be careful anyway. This could be some underage person acting older to get your attention, which could get you in the same kind of trouble anyway. Or it could be a criminal/murderer, etc.

If you have emails to prove that she said she is 20 then you shouldn't have any problem. Get her to come meet you though. Might be some trap, other than a sting operation. Why do you have to meet someone on line though?

NO!, think about your question... can you get arrested by meeting another adult....? if the police were trying to trick you they wouldn't tell you their an adult the will give you a younger age.

The only way you could get arrested was if she was UNDER 18 and you were looking for sex. If she is 20, there should not be a problem.

um....YEAH you can get arested! if you are doing anyting like the guys on dateline. However, if you just want to meet her to be friendly, it shouldnt be a problem, as long as you can prove you are oblivious if something bad happens. A better approach to meeting women would be through an internet dating site. Then you should be fine. just ask her to get an account on the same site you do, that way you can be sure.
