the mind is very powerful and many times people can convince themselves of something that isn't real. Look at the term hypochondriac, many people believe themselves ill when there is absolutely nothing wrong.

no, i dont' think so because even in super real dreams, if you get "hurt" it does not really hurt. It is possible to mistake other things for pain (i.e. in "The Punisher" he tells a guy he is gonna use a blowtorch on his back and then sticks him with a posicle - it is so cold the guy thinks he is being burned)

Yes you can. I have saw it many times in my carreer as a nurse. Your body can do mysterious things.
