Lets say you have 2 guys. The first guy is a mass murderer. He has murdered people, robbed people, and has been an overall bad person. Now lets say in prison he finds God and confesses all his sins. The second guy is an atheist, who has never broken the law, has given thousands of dollars to charity, and respects and shows kindness to everyone around him. Does the first guy have a better chance of getting into heavon because he found God. According to most Christians I have talked to, the answer is yes.

wow that sounds like a really easy way out. if all you have to do is accept god before you die to get into heavon, then that means anyone can sin all they want. thats like those people who buy tons of crap and then file bankruptsy to get out of paying for all their nice things.

The answer is yes, because we can't be good enough to get into heaven. Salvation is a free gift from God. Accept what Jesus did on the cross and believe in God. We cannot reject Jesus and get into heaven.

The atheist in this instance is acting self-righteous and that alone is a sin. A man in the Bible was praying and he said "Thank you God that I am not like this sinner who has killed and robbed." Another man is praying next to him and he said "Thank you God for having mercy on me a sinner."
We are all sinners and have come short of the glory of God.
God died for the mass murder's sin, just like he died for the atheist's sin. Accept Jesus as your Savior today. We all need a Savior for we cannot receive eternal life in heaven without accepting our Savior.

If anyone could work their way to God, or buy there way by helping the poor then Christ died in vain. We didn't really need Him all we had to do was be a great guy.. No even the "great guy" is good compared to the purity of a Holy God. if you don't confess your sin and turn to Christ you will die in your sin. And no unclean thing can enter the Kingdom of God. The first man sins were nailed to the cross the blood of Christ covering them. The second though a great guy is in his sin. See the Bible says that ALL murders, ALL adulterers, and ALL liars will be cast into the Lake of Fire, which is the second death. How many people must one murder to become a murder? How many times must one commit adultery to become an adulter, so them how many lies must one tell be become a lair?

The answer is yes. God does not, unfortunately, grade on a curve. The expected standard is 100% sinless perfection, and since none of us is anywhere near this standard, not even your hypothetical golden-hearted atheist, we are all universally doomed. The only way for us to have any kind of hope whatsoever is if we obtain a pardon based on someone else's righteousness. As unpalatable as this is, you have mostly correctly summarized the Christian position. However, let's not minimize the standard here: you must be as perfectly holy as God Himself is. Know anybody who fits the bill?

Why would you think that God would be obligated to anyone? Based on your premise, a person would merit Heaven based on works. If that were the case, Jesus died for nothing.

In the Old Testament, there was a Gentile (an Aramean) named Naaman who was the commander of the Syrian Army. He was highly valued by the King of Syria, but also had leprosy.

He was sent to Israel to be healed. When he arrived at Elisha's home, Elisha sent a messenger who told Naaman to dip in the Jordan River seven times, and he would be healed.

Naaman thought this was absurd. Not only was he offended that the prophet didn't come out to meet him, he was being asked to wash in a dirty river to get cleansed. He expected Elisha to wave his hand and call on the name of his God. Naaman was about to leave in a huff.

But, Naaman was persuaded by his staff, and he did what was required. He dipped in the Jordan River seven times, and was healed.

He wasn't healed because the Jordan was a better river than the ones in Damascus, but because God said that doing it His way was the only way. Naaman obeyed, and was healed.

Same today. People get offended that God doesn't deign to come to them personally, requires faith and trust in Jesus, and doesn't do things the way they want. But, to be healed from sin, you have to do it God's way. It may not make sense to you, but if you want to be with God, you must come on His terms, not yours.

Besides, why would an atheist expect Heaven, when they lived in unbelief their whole life? Should that be rewarded?

I Cor. 3:12& 13 says Ur "Good Works" are as Filthy Rags (Hebrew here is for Menstral Rags) Isiah 64:6 says Ur "Good Works" are like wood, hay & stubble that when tested by fire are consumed. Only one way to Heaven by Accepting Christ as Ur Savior! John 1:12 says "But as many as received Him. to to them he gave the right to become children of God, even those who believe on His name, who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." So, they both get a free trip, #1 goes to Heaven & #2 Hell! If U think it's such an easy way out, give it a try!!! John

That is how I understand it. Kind of ridiculous don't you think?
Kill, rape, steal, hate, etc, all you want during your life, but if you "truly" repent on your death bed, there will be a place in heaven for you.
But if you should not believe in their God, no matter how well you live your life you are still going to hell.
This is only one of the reasons why I am Pagan.
Nothing in Christianity makes sense, if you are truly open minded and can think for yourself.

Of course, if he has repented of sin and put his faith in Jesus Christ he is saved! "For it is by GRACE you have been saved, through FAITH, and it is not of yourselves, it is the GIFT OF GOD" Ephesians 2:8

It is only through Jesus Christ we can get to heaven...for every single person has sin--- even the atheist has sin, no matter how small a sin it is, it is still sin and it still needs forgiveness. All sin, no matter how small separates us from God. Here is a good verse:
Luke 15:10 (Jesus speaking)
In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents."

It is only through Jesus Christ we can be saved and inherit the kingdom of God-- only by HIS grace (see John 14:6)
Acts 4:12
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

-P.S did you know many people in prison come to know the Lord? And there are many churches who do prison ministries, who go out to prisons and share the gospel? It is only by hearing the word of God that one can have faith in Him (Romans 10:17)

According to christian faith, the answer is yes...but that is based on christian law that there is no way to god except through jesus christ.

Basically, you can sin all you want, you can sin as severe as you want, as long as you are truly sorry and repent before death.

Acts in life aren't what guarantee christian salvation. Accepting jesus as savior is.

I guess the answer is yes, according to THEM. That's a wonderful example of the kinds of backwards thinking that Christianity is so well known for. How anyone can look at a problem like this, and say "yeah, let's burn the nice guy, that's sensible and logical to me" is unimaginable. But, incredibly, millions of people worldwide actually think this is logical. And some people actually still think Christianity makes sense...

Most Christians you have talked to are not the ones who are going to do the judging. I thought that was the job of Jesus to do the judging? Only God knows what is truly in a persons heart. the bible says that no small favor done for others will not have its reward. Also, that God is not unrighteous so as to forget the love you showed.
