Depends on your definition of "Christian" and "religious." By most definitions, no, you can't be Christian and not be religious. Christianity is a religion, afterall! Christians are religious by definition. BUT... there is a definition of "religious" that pertains to thinking in a spiritual or religious way regularly, and it IS possible to believe in Christ and his message and not think spiritually on a daily basis. Most Christians would argue that this person is not a "good" Christian or "practicing" Christian, but they might still be a Christian nonetheless. There is also a definition of "religious" that pertains to a belief in ORGANIZED religion. You can be a Christian and not believe in an organized religion or church, and you could argue that this kind of Christian is not "religious." It is all a matter of semantics in the end.

what is a christian and what does religious mean according to you ? if you know that you can answer the question yourself.
for me i always thought that religion means the belief in a god, christianity is about the believe in a certain god so for me the answer of your question is no. I am still investigating if this is the correct definition of religion because it seems common here that you can indeed be christian but not be religious and i think its not.

yes! you can be. Beleiving in christ is christian and practicing religion is religious. You are not out of christianity if you dont practice your religion. You will remain christian even if you are not religious. But remember! it is good to be religious.

I see this as a question of definition. If what you mean by being a Christian is to practice those virtues traditionally (but not always accurately) attributed to Christians, then the answer to your question is obviously Yes. But if what you mean is to believe in the superstitions extant in the biblical tales of Jesus, then the answer is definitely No.

I do not know how or even why one would claim to be Christian but refuse to practice its teaching. Theoretically, I guess it is possible in extreme situations but very highly unlikely that one would be a Christian and not be compelled to do God's will and be obedient.

Yes, I think so. I believe in Christ but do not participate in organized religion. It is not for me. I do not think that I have to have a routine of rituals to show God that I believe. I worship in a way that makes me comfortable. The most important part of Christianity is that you believe.

It depends on what you call religious? I've alway considered myself a christian, but for a long time I never went to church, didn't like organized religion, but still believed in Jesus christ and his sacrifice for us.....
Now I go to a Methodist church and love it....

you can't be a Christian & not worship God in the way he wants you to, after all religion is a "organized way of worshipping someone or something" Jesus had a religion, he was a Jew & under the law of Moses. he observed all the festivals & instituted the new covenant after celebrating the Passover zorrro857@yahoo.com

well people have a different opinion on whats religious. GOD does want us to fellowship if that's what you mean.. I read in the bible just today that a church is meeting place for sinners.
