It's like kids when they first start telling knock-knock jokes. The jokes are stale and often don't make any sense, but the kids still laugh at themselves to no end as if they are the greatest comedians in the world.

I've never heard any atheist make a banana joke ever, nor have I ever told one. The real joke is that people believe that and we get enough laughs just looking at you.

I can't recall ever having told a "banana joke" that bore any relationship to atheism. Is every atheist required to tell this sort of joke, or are you generalising?

Well, initially, I was in the same boat as you - however, the idea that a banana proves the existence of god illustrates for me the absurdity of logic and reasoning as applied to the whole banana scenerio.

A bit like the old logical saying: "If she weighs the same as a duck, she's a witch!"

It's just something to poke fun at - a little light hearted humor, something to bring a smile to my face.

Why is a joke not funny if several people laugh but you, personally, do not? Beauty is in the eye of the banana.

It's not the jokes that are funny, but the referenced "argument" that gets the laughs.

I realize this type of humor is a bit clever and requires some insight and sense of irony, so your mistake is forgiven.

Banana jokes are like the wind: you can't see how their funny, but you can feel them all around you.

I guess the real joke is the creationist who posted the idea that bananas prove creation.
