By the irreligious?

People are born sinners and their attitude toward religion and the religious proves it.

For example, Jesus taught us to treat people the way we want to be treated. Generally a good idea, I think and a lot of people agree.

If we accept this idea of treating everyone the way we want to be treated this means many Atheists want to be treated like moronic, uneducated, boobs.

If you have to have it explained, it's hopeless. But pick up a history book for starters.

Christianity is an unbroken series of atrocities from its inception to today. And if you say of the Inquisitors, e.g., that "they weren't really following Christ," reflect for just a moment that they would've said the same thing of you - and they would've burned you for it! And, ultimately, there's no way of determining who's right, since it's all based on "faith," which cannot be rationally criticized or assessed. Their set of imaginary concepts is as good as yours.

The 9/11 hijackers believed they were executing Allah's will. From within their mindset, they were holy martyrs. It's easy (I'm sure) for you to recognize that they were deluded fanatics; but the only real difference between them and any other group of "religious" people (as such) is the mode of expression they chose for their "faith." The excuse for their behavior is exactly the same as Pat Robertson's.

Actually, it's a fascinating subject. Look objectively at pre-history and the religions of those with oral traditions. Especially interesting are the matriarchal religions. Read "When God Was a Woman" by Merlin Stone. You'll never look at Genesis and the Levites the same way again!

there are a lot of legends surrounding the Buddha's start and life, yet his virgin start is hardly an editorial of religion or something i've got ever heard emphasised. the essential difficulty for many Buddhists is his teachings. besides, your thought seems to be that the parable of the virgin start in those particularly some traditions is a technique or the different misogynistic. yet in my view that doesn't carry, because of the fact the guy who's being shrink out of the image right that is incredibly the daddy. And Mary's prestige as "mom of God" is what makes her so significant to Christians - for Catholics, probable the 2d maximum necessary guy or woman after Jesus. So those thoughts could point out a damaging innovations-set in the direction of intercourse, yet i don't think of you could say they malign the female physique.

I suppose for the same reason that atheism and other things are treated with sarcasm and disgust by some believers - it's done by people who aren't intelligent (or mature) enough to accept that there is ALWAYS more than one point of view for any given situation.

Too much Hanky Panky in the history of religion. Ever study how the Catholic Church punished Galileo because he told the truth?

I could write a book of reasons I have seen given on here Dustin, lol...most of them untrue, stereotyped, partialized, or generalized to the point they have no value. The amount of plausible deniability on here is enough to make people think we are all in Washington DC at the White House.

Because it is easier to put it down than buy into it.
What you don't understand or take the time to study, you follow the crowd and make fun of it. That makes it all go away.
