Actually, it's probably one of the SMARTEST moves in NASCAR, in at least, the last ten years. this season, Earnhardt gets $20.1 Million, from D.E.I. or, roughly $1 million more than, Gordon. He could command almost twice that much, elsewhere. and then, there is competitiveness. D.E.I, is going nowhere fast. Teresa may know Business but She obviously knows nothing about racing. Jr., has decided that He is at the point in His career that, He needs to start competing for championships which, He probably won't be able to do at D.E.I. for at least, another 3 to 5 years. SMART MOVE.

Jr is doing the right thing ..He is tired of being known as dale sr son,,,, get to know him for dale jr. He is not his father he is his own self and a true dale jr fan will follow him no matter what. As for his step mom she is going to find herself in a bad situation. so she will have to deal with it.

Judging by his performance on the track since he's been having such major problems with Teresa at DEI, i'd say the only stupid one is you for making this comment. First of all Teresa is the stupid one, she's the one wrecking the dreams and wishes of her late husband that he had for DEI, the whole reason he built it. And these problems didn't just spring up this year, it's been ongoing for a few years now, so i suggest you get all the info before making a comment on a situation you clearly know nothing about.

He's not stupid. He's doing exactly what his father did when he left for Richard Childress Racing. Like father like son.
If anyone is stupid, it's Teresa. Dale Earndhart Sr. built his company for his children, not his wife. He even said that he wanted his son to have majority ownership and control. And if anyone should take the company, it's his son. But Teresa wouldn't budge.

That wasn't a stupid move for Jr. that was a smart move, mainly because Jr. cans win some races now that he has the DEI situation off his back

I think it was smart. DEI is never gonna win a championship, at least not with teresa leading the organization. He said he wants to win a championship, and he needs to be with a team that can do so. I hope he comes to gibbs, but I dont know. Everyone is saying RCR, but if he wants to get out of his dads shadow, the last thing he needs to do is race for the team his dad raced and died on. He needs to be his own person, I dont think even with a new # he could do that at RCR. It would be too much in his dads footsteps, big shoes to fill. I think he would be better off with another team, and I hope its gibbs. Jr, Tony, and Denny are all friends, it would at least give hendrick a run for their money.

I guess time will tell if it was a stupid more move or a smart move. He wins about 1 race a year with DEI, if that improves it may have been a good decision. I think part of Jr's problem with not winning is his crew chief.

DO YOU EVER WATCH OR KEEP UP WITH NASCAR AT ALL!! THIS IS THE BEST THING HE COULD HAVE DONE. HIS STEP MOM HAS NO INTENTION OF LETTING DALE SR.'S CHILDREN INHERIT THE COMPANY HE STARTED FOR THEM, NOT HER. ONLY HER DAUGHTER TAYLOR WILL GET ANY OF IT. PLUS, DALE SR. IS PROBABLY LOOKING DOWN AT HIM PROUDLY FOR TAKING STANDING AND STICKING TO IT. THE "EARNHARDT NATION" SHOULD BE PROUD AND GET READY TO WATCH THEIR DRIVER FINALLY WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP! THAT FAMILY DYNAMIC AT DEI IS NOT A GOOD ENVIRONMENT FOR JUNEBUG!!

probably smart. His performance has dropped on the last couple of seasons and DEI is lagging behind a few teams it seems in performance. I dont think any of his fans status or the fact that he is the most popular guy in nascar will change so it was probably a good choice

Not stupid - Jr. will be able to gain more knowledge and be a better owner in the future if he can join RCR, Hendrick, Roush, Gibbs or Yates.
