A supplement would be a good idea. If she's eating a good kitten food, she's getting her nutrients but every bit helps. One month is very young to take away from mom. I adopted a 3 week old that was dumped at the pound and she did very well on kitten food and water to drink. She's now 2 years old and very smart and happy and healthy.

It should be drinking the replacement milk, but small bits of water should not harm it. Now the kitten will probably still have its milk teeth and it should be at least offered the replacement milk. they are not suppose to be weaned until 6 to 8 weeks. if the kitten is older than that, then the kitten is okay drinking water, but if it is younger, I would say the replacement milk until weaning time.

Yes, buy it the replacement milk, but at one month they begin to wean, so let it drink out of a dish. Buy a bag of kitten kibble and mash it up with warm water and offer that as well.

Oh, also, get it the first vaccines (combination and FeLV). If the kitten has been away from momma it will need the vaccines at 6 weeks instead of 8 to protect it from diseases.

Kittens usually start to move on to solid food around this age, but certainly no earlier. I would think the kitten will not yet be weaned, in which case it will certainly need kitten replacement milk or it will be badly malnourished.

How much solid kitten food is it eating, if any?

Replacement milk contains cow's milk which many kittens cannot tolerate. (No idea why they sell that stuff!) They should consider giving the kitten some goat's milk.

How did she adopt the kitten so early- it's way too young. It should be with its Mom another month if possible.

well, she can buy some kitten milk if she wants to spend a fortune, but water is perfectly fine. my 6 week old kitten drinks water and only water and she is now 10 weeks and is stronger than ever.

It should be drinking milk for a lil longer, i would give it to her anyways for about 2 more wks then start the water or do both. the kitten is walking around now right? eyes are open, then it should be alright. just watch her carefuly

My godfather fostered two (ADORABLE!) teeny, tiny kittens--just a little over a month, i think--and the vet recommended a special non-dairy formula, kind of like baby formula, that he bottle-fed them. they couldn't've survived on just water, i don't think, because it doesn't contain any nutrition.
