The Abs Diet, by the editor of Men's Health. It's designed for men but I lost a lot of weight on it and kept it off. It's not even a diet though.

The ONLY diet that will ever work is a lifestyle change. As soon as you quit dieting and eat unhealthily you will put the weight back on again, plus some more. This is because your metabolic rate has dropped. Here are some facts for you:
Small frame = Low metabolic rate
Large frame = High metabolic rate
If you really want to lose weight healthily and have a good chance of keeping it off, you need to calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). You can do this by clicking on the following link:
http://www.weightlossforgood.co.uk/bmr_calculator.htm
Ok, you've probably got a 4 digit figure. (Mine is 1359).
This figure is the number of calories your body needs each day just to exist i.e. if I layed in bed all day and didn't move a muscle, my body would need 1359 calories each day to exist. i.e.1359 calories would keep all my vital organs going, like the heart and brain etc.
However, if you wanted to spend the entire day running around, you would need to consume MORE calories than your BMR or your body will be deficient in calories and will eat up it's own fat stores as fuel.
THIS IS THE CLEVER PART - if you eat no more than your BMR each day, then you will lose weight easily because your body will need to burn fat to make up the difference. And it's perfectly safe and healthy, because you are not depriving your body. You are giving your body all the calories that it needs to function healthily. It only becomes unhealthy if you drop your calorie allowance BELOW your BMR. In this circumstance, you'll be burning off muscle too. xxx

Without wishing to seem impolite Type ' weight loss ' into the search for questions box and you will see the answers to the 20 questions like yours that clutter ' Answers ' every day, together with their standard answers.
Type in ‘Answers swamped with weight loss questions!?’ to see what regular contributors think.
I will cut and paste my stock answer, however it is interesting to see how close this is ( I have been using it for over 2 months), to a recent paper from University of California. They did a meta-analysis of all the work on weight loss over the past few years. ( summary) It showed that 2/3 of people who diet yo-yo to a higher weight, none of the faddy diets of diet pills work and that rapid weight loss doubles heart attack risk!
They seemed to suggest the only hope was modest calorie reduction + EXERCISE.
This is a news report of the article:

I have to admit I have a 'stock' answer for this question, since if you look it appears 20-30 times every day!!!
Type 'guaranteed weight loss' into google, you will find 1 1/2 million sites!
Look around you if ANY of these things worked would we be getting so overweight?
We are what we eat, but we are at least as much what we don't do. Calorie intakes in 1900 and 1950 were higher than they are now, we just don't use them up!
Eat a balanced diet with plenty of fruit and veg.
Take a healthy amount of exercise 30-40 minutes of vigorous exercise per day 4-5 days a week. I hate to think what percentage of the UK population does that 2%? 5%?
I have seen hundreds of questions with this same pattern :- I am fat, tell me where on line I can get this super diet or herbal/dangerous/illegal drug that I hear will fix it for me in 10 minutes without the need for me to get off the couch!
No fixes pal , less in more out, its the only way.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)
i lost about 40lbs. i just had to realize that diet is not a sprint its a way of life.

diets by nature NEVER work. not in the long term at least. you may think you're seeing results in teh first month or so but you will ALWAYS gain it back plus some more in the end. the best way to think about nutrition is just to EAT HEALTHY. lots of fruits, veggies, WAAATTTERRRR (2-3L a day), healthy fats, lean proteins and whole grain carbs. you're body needs ALL of these items to function efficiently. the processed foods and the resturant foods are the ones that will hinder your metabolism and make you fat. AVOID THOSE FOODS ONLY! just keep it balanced.

its called the 'pineapple diet'!
in this diet you are allowed to eat anything except pineapples .. but after each meal you have to ride a horse for 30 minutes .. so in a day you have three meals (without any pineapples) then ride the horse for 30 minutes for each (i.e. an hour and a half each day)
by the end of the month .. the horse will have lost alot of weight !!

ROSEMARY CONNELLY, I struggled for years, then joined a R. C class, I told the instructor that I would never be able to manage the exercise, but she was so helpful, I DID manage the exercise and lost the weight.. I had tried so many before and none had worked.
