or the idea of an established church where people are saying the same thing or the idea of an invisible God. Is that why some people behave so threatened when it comes to religion?

The mentally ill need Jesus for their salvation. For God doesn't give us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of love, acceptance & sound mind.

Jesus came to set the captives free. He came to destroy the works of the devil, so we may have life & have it more abundantly.

But the devil rules by fears & lies, so the one who is afraid of someone learning about the Gospel, is really the devil who is oppressing that mentally ill person (with lies & fear). When the mentally ill person is healed by the Word of God, then that baby Christian is a threat to the devils destructive work.

No it's not a threat but I just don't see what good redemption is through a dead human who is now nothing but dust and bones.

I was not raised with Christ as divine even though I was raised christian - the Baptist church I attended as a child concentrated on the Old Testament only. It was hellfire and brimstone, step out of line just once and go to hell.

And to top it all off the good reverend couldn't even do what he spouted from the pulpit Sunday after Sunday - he was more of a do as I say not as I do kind of guy. He was committing adultery which I believe is breaking one of the christian ten commandments.

There are enough inconsistencies with christianity that if anyone takes a rational look at them they will start to question things.

A person who is mentally ill is a person who is exactly that. You can't expect too much from them because they have a sickness. They are not well. Believing in God or church is a personal choice. That is why God gave us free will. Church is something people choose to go to, you can't force someone to go or to believe if they don't. That's why they feel threatened. Nobody wants to be forced.

No, because the person you have described, this "mentally ill person" IS the one trying to "redeem" the rest of us. Your mistake is a common one, and I forgive you for it. If you would like, we could go for a walk and talk about it. Sound nice? Yeah, but it is a bit nippy out there... You know what? I will let you use my nice jacket, it is lovely and white, and the arms have no holes, to keep your fingers from getting chilled...

Depends on their particular illness or delusion. Some decide that they ARE Jesus Christ. God's mercy transcends mental illness to see what a persons heart is. We need not worry that God will judge them unjustly.

No, this is justified, let me tell you why. A group of pschiatrists put together a list of all the thnigs Yahweh said in the old testament, and the context in which he said it. They concluded that he is a paranoid-schizophrenic. Therefore, since Christ is related, its really a kind of nut-house for nuts.

I think telling a mentally healthy person you need something that can't be seen, felt, or perceived can be done in a threatening way.

I can't imagine a god that wants to be spread by slandering nonbelievers.

yes that can be a threat to them.
i dont think that that is the reason why people behave threatened when it becomes to religion. i think its omre that religion is the base of someone's life and if you attack or questioned that you are questioning much more than just the belief in god.

God only judges by what we know and understand, not on what we cannot comprehend. Do you think God cannot see in to their heart and know what is there? The mind may be gone, but the heart is intact.

They are threatened because their deeds are evil.

And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil
