My baby is 9 months. Just cut his first tooth yesterday and another is on its way. He has been waking up anywhere from 5 or 10 times during the night crying. His Dr advised me to give him baby motrin before bed and that it should keep him asleep longer. I tried last night and it didn't work at all. I'm afraid to give him the gum numbing medicine. Any advise on how to help ease his pain during the night?

i'm afraid to use the numbing medicine because i tried it myself with a canker sore and it made my whole mouth numb. i'd be afraid my baby wouldn't be able to feel to swallow and choke on his saliva or something!

the numbing meds will be fine, they don't harm babies at all, but they wear off. Try the motrin again, and give him a bottle of ice water to drink, it may numb the pain some.

Well I would keep trying the motrin and if you do decide to use the gum numbing medicine try Hurricane from behind the counter, It works great.

Try Hyland's teething tablets, they are all natural and help soothe babies to sleep. They work wonders for my daughter.
