Yes, it will increase your gas millage, and no it won't do any harm. I have been using Acetone in my gas for years now and can tell you from a point of fact that my gas millage noticeably increases when I use it and decreased if I don't. I drive an Eagle Summit, and my wife a Subaru Legacy. Our cars run great, no problems, period.
My Summit without should get about 28 in the city and about 32 on the highway. With acetone I get 34 in the city and 40+ on the highway. The correct amount to add to gas is 3oz per 10 gallons of gas. Sure you can have trouble if you use 100% acetone, but what moron is going to do that!!!! But in this small diluted amount there is no danger, zero, zip.
No, sorry, the dooms sayers are wrong. Diluted in that measure it will not harm your car, not destroy your seals or gas lines, not do any damage at all. This is nonsense spoken of by people who have not done their homework. Do some investigation on the net. There are dozens of sources verifying this as being safe, and effective. Same with my wifes Subaru. Better results and power with it.
Further, this is known around the world. The truth is that the oil companies go ballistic when the topic comes up. There have been attempts to persuade the government to demand an acetone/gas mixture at the pumps, but greased palms always prevail.
Use the per portions I spoke of. Less than 3oz per 10 gallons of gas will reduce the benefit, and more will reduce the benefit. It also works great in desils.

OK here is the straight truth. First acetone at the rate of 2.5 oz per gallon of gas will increase your gas millage by about 2 miles per gallon. However at $17 per gallon for acetone the financial savings is not great..
Now will 2.5 oz of acetone harm your car? The answer is hell no! Acetone is a primary ingredient in carb and choke cleaner as well as toulene!
Yes pure acetone will eat up your rubber seals..If you soak them in it! But mixing a couple Oz's of it in the gasoline? No! But as I said while you will get a couple more mpg you won't be saving enough to make it worth while..
Now adding a couple oz of acetone once in a while will clean up dirty injectors and spark plugs. But its no big fuel miracle.. Platinum catalyst is a fuel miracle! But you won't save money at all you will just get 10 mpg more!

Tried and tested, works 100% increase in performance, mileage.
Per litre petrol, add only 0.25ml of 100% pure acetone. I have been using it in Hero Pleasure 2007 model

acetone is even more highly oxidized than ethanol, and therefore there are fewer joules of energy released by completely burning acetone. you may have noticed that diluting gasoline with 10% ethanol has yielded a modest decrease in your MPG, as compared to 5 or 10 years ago when this practice was not standard. by this logic, adding acetone (even if its safe for your engine) will harm your MPG even further. there is simply not as much energy in an acetone molecule as there is in gasoline. if this is a question for school, the correct answer may be to add isooctane (trimethylpentane)

Who does "Oiler" work for, Exxon??? Just look at: http://www.pureenergysystems.com/news/2005/03/17/6900069_Acetone/
He's been using acetone for FIFTY years and has some great information on his site. Acetone works by reducing surface tension, thereby increasing vaporization of the gas. More completely burnt gas has three benefits: 1.) more power, 2.) cleaner emissions, and 3.) better mileage. Sorry, Oiler, but acetone does NOT corrode engine parts. Is there any wonder the oil industry want this under wraps?
Acetone is just fine, but make sure you use 100% pure acetone. Impurities in it can actually DECREASE your mileage. You can get it at parts stores in quart bottles ("DupliColor") for about $17/gal. Beauty supply stores have it too, selling it as nail polish remover ("Torco EAL"). The ideal ratio of acetone to gas is about 2oz. per 10 gal.
Happy saving!

How much acetone do you plan to add. Gas dryer (Heat, etc.) contains methyl alcohol and small amount acetone. If you put very much acetone in you gas, then read what every one else is saying as you will have problems.

no way! i am not sure about this but i think 100% ethanol alcohol is ok to put in your tank but not as a gas substitute...i believe that you only use that when you have water in ur tank and...the alcohol will dry out the water and fix the problems...because water in your gas tank can make your car stall...thats the closest thing i can think of...but i dont think it will increase mileage....a good 'ol spark plug change will make your engine more efficient thus having better gas mileage...oh and also not carrying 400 lbs of bricks in your trunk should cut down on gas too lol
