The BEST shade loving plants are listed below

1 ) Ferns = Adiantum and Nephrolepis are beautiful ferns that grow best in the shade only.

They do not like direct Sun at all ! Boston fern is a wonderful variety of Nephrolepis.

Selaginella is a distant relative of fern and grows best only in shade .

2 ) Foliage Plants = Monstera deliciosa is a large climber with attractive leaves and grows well

in shade , it requires a large space and can tolerate direct sun .


Anthurium has numerous varieties and very famous for its attractive flowers.

Caledium and Alocasia is another group oh plants that have very very attractive leaves with different colors !!

Philodendron and Dieffenbachia are good shade loving plants with attractive leaves.

One of the most common problems faced in landscaping is finding plants that will grow in shady areas (shade gardens). It doesn't matter how pretty plants look in catalogs: if the aren't good shade plants, they'll disappoint you in shade gardens. Instead, compromise and select plants that tolerate or even prefer shade.

Holly, Black gum, Sourwood and hemlock, however, I would refer to a tree-species identification book to find the best NATIVE trees for planting.
