He could have had Jesus nailed on a cross, in a public place or not, in a matter of seconds, using His (the Father's) powers. Why use the human intermediars to fulfill a destiny He had designed Himself?

(of course I understand the historical and political consequences of this second course of action, but I think it is claimed in the Bible that the *sole* purpose for Jesus' sacrifice was saving the human race, not spreading of the word of God, and in this case, a solitary and divine crucifixion would have been just as good...)

Why did God in all of His great power have to allow Jesus to be crucified in the first place? Couldn't He just make an announcement at the beginning of the universe - "Hey, if anybody chooses to do something I say not to, (hint hint)listen up EVE ... You are forgiven long as you say I am the one and only God." For that matter couldn't He have just flicked the Serpent (Satan) out of the known universe so that Eve wouldn't have been tempted therefore no original sin would have gotten the rest of us in deep moral doo-doo. In fact most theistic religions can have a huge line of questions that can trace back to one underling "why" question, which is; why did God create humanity at all? was He lonely? Didn't He have enough angels and heavenly hosts as it is to worship Him? As a christain there will be an infinite amount of "why" questions I would like God to answer. As of now I go off of what He has given me, because there are many "why" questions that He has answered for me in this lifetime. So I'm always learning to trust Him more and more. After all, each of us only has the mind and understanding of one human being, He has the mind of God and the understanding of every human mind that ever was and ever will be. So there are many things that I can't answer, so I'm forced to leave it to the Big Man to know why He does things the way he does.

You're absolutely right! God did use this crucifixion to save the human race.....from sin! He used His son to show how much he really cares for and loves us. It was done in public so noone could be mistaken or lie about the situation. If Jesus wouldn't have died on that cross that day on Calvary than His word wouldn't still be spreadin today the way it is. Because through Christ we all have received his glory and grace.
This is why Jesus had disciples so that they would live with this man and see that he was Perfect and that he was everything that he promised he was and would be. Before he was crucified he told them to go and make disciples of all nations....
that's how the word was spread. So, God had a purpose and meaning for everything that happened. He's never wrong or confused. He's got a plan. He is God for crying out loud!

Ever noticed why Jesus was saying on the cross,"My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" do you think he was just reciting it to really fulfill the Prophesy? or do you think he really was seen by the Prophets in their prediction that He was abandoned literally by God?
To many, Jesus was portrayed as a sinless person. A perfect one because he is a Son of God. Every important character in the Bible like David, Saul, Abraham, Jacob, Moses, Solomon and the Prophets is not without sin. all their mistakes were recorded and including their confessions and guilt. Read Psalm 22 and clearly it is about Jesus. Read Psalm 69 and take emphasis on verse 5-6. David sins or folly is notably known within his chambers even outside the palace and so was Solomon. So, who is this man that only God could know his guilt? Isn't it that no one knows Jesus' sins?
The reason why he was shouting about him being forsaken was that Elijah was saved by God at the time he was bieng punished by men and he thought the same thing will happen to him.
Saving human race is a great lie. God had already declared as early as Moses' time about the sins of the fathers that that will no longer be carried by the sons. Deauteronomy 24:16, Ezekiel 18:3-26 and Jeremiah 31:29-30 will prove to you that anyone who sins will be the one to be charged.
Jesus' coming was purely for the lost sheep of Israel meaning he was to call all Jews to unite which he failed to do. Matthew 15:24.
Another thing, people he just created from the dust as we have read or heard it. People He expects to follow His commands but failed to do and even defy His laws, isn't it odd that "God will go down in flesh, and say He is His Son and then tell His people, " You will have to make me suffer and kill me so that I can save you from the grave mistakes you did against me." Either way you suggest what God should have done or how it was described have happened, can you pause a little while and ask, "Did God really ran out of better ideas to make those who made a mistake against Him realize how angry He was?" If He can flood the world. or bring disasters to the world by using the forces of nature why in the sanest mind can He not decide what is the best measure to make man be sorry for their sins? I do not believe that my God is that STUPID.

you are right the whole purpose of the cruxifiction was to save mankind. As mankind and sin cannot walk together, Christ took our sins upon Him, so that by believing on Him, He can intercede for us now with God the Father as sin and God cannot walk together, as God is holy.

Jesus while on earth was a spiritual leader, sent from God to teach us what God the Father was like. A lot of people hardened their heart against Him. Therefore the hierarchy of the church, couldnt let Him live, as most of the people were following after him. As God is the creator and Jesus Christ his Son, He makes those who believe on Him, fellow heirs with Him.

Yeah but not every version of the Bible agree that Jesus was crucified either.... i know several christians who say that he was never crucified even though an attempt was made.. he managed to escape... so the people found some ne else who looked like him to escape "shame" because they had to show the public what they said they would do...

That's the thing: the sole purpose of Jesus' sacrifice was NOT saving the human race. There were a lot of things involved and his death and the manner thereof took care of them all.

there were set standards of how He had to be crucified. also, God only kills people in judgement, yet like Jesus said "they hated me without cause". If the Father had killed Him, it would break rules.
