I only pray for miracles when I am already doing EVERYTHING I can and things seem to be too difficult to cope with. Asking for blessings is something I do in addition to doing everything I can, because sometimes my own efforts are just not enough. I also always ask God to help my efforts be more effective.

I have had miracles in my life. The first one I know of was when I was twelve. I had ingrown toenails all the time as a child (so I rarely wore any shoes). I had had ten operations on one big toe, and about five on the other (very painful, and had to then keep the foot elevated for a week... so no school). Finally I asked my bishop for a blessing. He blessed me that my toenails would no longer trouble me. From that day on, I never had another problem with ingrown toenails.

For me, the most miracles (ie interventions from God) in my life stem from listening to that "still small voice" whenever I'm making a choice... In cases like these I have been prepared when difficult times have occurred, or the Holy Spirit has shown me how to solve my problem for myself.

God is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is still a God of miracles.... but we are expected to do all that we can, first.

the best way to find answers to problems is...
search for your own answer at first. Make a decision on what you think is the best way to go and then pray about your decision to see if you are right. The thing is Heavenly Father is there for us when we need him and there are a lot of things that we can't do on our own. Prayer in itself is a miracle. The thing is to not pray for miracles but to pray for answers to life's questions.

There are plenty of people who misconstrue the Bible to be a personal magic bottle to rub and make a wish. Its a false perception, the people who follow that line of thinking are NOT really exercising real faith and it STILL DOESNT mean that Faith in God is pointless.

Searching for answers to our own problems is exactly what every Christian does naturally and STRUGGLES to take their hands off of stuff and trust God FOR a miracle.

Its alot easier to go get that PayDay Loan or divorce your husband instead of waiting on God. The bible says that worry is a sin, and to cast all our care to the Lord. He says to worry not what we will eat tomorrow or where we will sleep and He will not see the righteous forsaken. Unbelievers dont understand how HARD that is to do...They mock it like believers sit back on the couch waiting when its totally the opposite.

People who dont know how faith works think its easy...its not.

AMEN. If it don't work.................... try to fix it. People sit around and WAIT FOR GOD TO DO IT. I mean, sometimes you need help from the Almighty but some people complain about their lives, their family, their fat, their poor, they hate their jobs, etc etc. even illness. I had to research and figure out that I had a thyroid disorder as it was undiagnosed for 15 years (but I do think God prompted me as I asked for his direction) and expect God to just wave a wand and fix it. We need to figure some things out on our own and take some responsibility. When we get stuck, we pray for help. Now if you are going down in a plane, or have cancer or someting you have no control over, I would highly suggest praying for a miracle. But everyday life stuff entails some serious soul searching.

I pray for answers. I know God said "no more" on the miracle front... our miracles and what we call them are basic answer to prayer.

The basis of Christianity is to learn to not think and not try to discover answers on your own. "Lean not on your own understanding, but every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD." Therefore praying for things we could do on our own is the proper way to obey God.

Because people are weak. And obviously when you grow up in a household thats always leaning on a crutch called god to help you get out of their messes, you learn the same habit. It just subconciously teaches your brain that you arent strong enough to handle the situation. It dumbs you down if you ask me.

It really is a great tragedy, to not be able to know that you can in fact get yourself out of the huge blunder that you got yourself into. That you have to cry out to some invisible made up being for help. AND then to worsen the situation if you dont get out of it and your prayer isnt "answered" people take that as a sign of "it wasnt meant to be. God knows what hes doing and he has a better plan" It's just so sick it makes me want to regurgitate.

There is nothing wrong with praying for miracles. What is wrong is when people get upset when God says "No".

because that would require some self-evaluation and some change in behavior. People are lazy, they'd rather think some outside intervention will fix the problem for them so they don't have to get off their rump and take some action on their own.
