My daughters birthday is coming in a couple of weeks and I am trying to get ideas for a snack she can bring into class. She will be 9 and is in 3rd grade.

She does not want to bring in cupcakes or rice crispy treats because that's what everybody brings in. She wants to be a bit creative. I suggested decorating springtime shaped sugar cookies but that is sooooooooooooooooooooo unoriginal.

Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. Not too complicated please since I will be having to make many.

I just saw these rice crispy snacks that were cut in the shape of a flower, sprinkled with pink and purple sugar crystals, and had a big (size of a quarter) chocolate drop in the centre. It's still a rice crispy, but pretty original.

Also, please remember to check if any kids in the class have allergies. I'm sure you don't to endanger anyone or have them feel excluded.

I have seen really small individual pie dishes. You could make some little chocolate cream pies but then of course you run into the problem of some kids may not like chocolate like one of mine. This is tough..why does she have to be different. I would say cupcakes is the most practical or maybe even a giant chocolate chip cookie. Definately find out about allergies. Maybe Ice Cream Sundaes...pick up some disposable bowls, spoons, A big tub of Vanilla Ice cream, choc syrup, sprinkles, m &Ms, couple cans of whip cream and maybe some gummies and they can make their own. If you are available you could volunteer to be there during this time but I would check with teacher first and ask if this is ok to do. You dont have to make anything and kids love making their own sundaes.

Mud puddles:
Chocolate Pudding
Oreo Cookies
Gummy Worms

Take the chocolate pudding and distribute evenly into cups(clear colorful ones are the cutest)
Take the Oreo cookies and crumble them up.
Sprinkle the Oreo cookies crumbs over the top of the pudding(makeing dirt to cover the mud)
Now, put a couple gummie worms, or any gummy bugs into the "mud". Leave some all the way out and a few with just thier head showing.

Super easy, and kids go nuts for them! Hope this helped! Good luck hun!

This is what I did and its super easy. Buy chocolate pudding (one individual cup for each child), then put crushed up oreoes on the top of the pudding, 2 gummy bears partially stuck in the pudding with the other end hanging over the cup, i small pretzel stick stuck in pudding and stick an apple segment (apples cut into 8) on top. It looks like a flower coming out of the dirt. It sound complicated but if you prep at home and assemble at school, its not too tough. If teacher says its ok, you could have each kid do his own. Good luck!

I am much like Betsy; my two year old son also has a severe peanut allergy. Getting a list of the children and their allergies is the best way to go. You could do something like fruit cups which is a healthy alternative to all the processed sugar, etc. You could also try to do fruit snacks, easy to eat things that aren't completely unhealthy.

How about a fresh pineapple that you cut in the classroom?

A party cake--make a cake ( I like carrot or pineapple carrot) and then decorate it with flowers.

The kids could each make their own ice cream cookie sandwich. Give each child two cookies, and plop a scoop of ice cream onto one cookie.

Popscicles.

Dirt pudding.

Pastries from your local Mexican bakery (mmmm, conchas)

Craisins

for my kids birthdays I always brought in ice cream sandwiches and the kids loved them! Munchkin donuts are a big hit as well. If you want to make something, you can put cupcake batter in a waffle cone and bake it. Afterwards you put frosting and sprinkles on top and it's just like an ice cream cone. The kids think it's really neat!

At my daughter's request, I made date square square. Some kids LOVED it. Some didn't even try it. lol the teacher loved it.

I found a link to an oreo-mini cheesecake recipe that was EXTREMELY popular at my daughter's birthday party. It's easy and yummy!
