I have read
"Atheist Universe" By David Mills
and
"The Demon Haunted World....Science As A Candle in the Dark" By Carl Sagan

They both are really good books!

Christians! You can read these books too. You might learn some science and the antatomy of an argument.

How about the Bible? It sounds like that't the only book that could help you right now. I will pray for you.

"The God Delusion" - Richard Dawkins

"The Blind Watchmaker" - Richard Dawkins (it's about evolution. you can instead watch the documentary on this on google video)

"End of Faith: Religion, Terror and the Future of Reason." Sam Harris

"Letter to a Christian Nation" - Sam Harris

"The Jesus Puzzle" by Earl Doherty (pretty much the most historical evidence ever compiled for the time period demonstrates beyond shadow of doubt that Jesus did not exist

"The Jesus Mysteries: Was the "Original Jesus" a Pagan God?" by Timothy Freke and Peter Gandy. (another good one).

Then of course there's Carl Sagan.

Anything by Richard Carrier is very good, remarkably intellectual but still accessible and easy to read. Check out some of his articles (they're free) here:
http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/richard_carrier/

"Incredible Shrinking Son of Man: How Reliable Is the Gospel Tradition?" by Robert M. Price

As was mentioned, the bible is remarkably effective way to become atheist. So is the Quran.

The book Schaum's Outline of Logic . It has nothing to do directly with the question of reason, it simple give one a sound grounding in logical argument.

Reason was the only tool that I need to overcome religion. After all,"There is a God.", is a presumptive statement. Knowing that leaves one asking for evidence of the statements truth. It seems a bit silly that so many atheist go beyond this.

I'll actually second the first two suggestions. "Atheism: The Case Against God" is a great read. It debunks all the classic arguments and proposes some interesting new arguments.

And of course, The Bible is great too. Seriously. I can't think of a better book to reinforce your own atheism.

Other suggestions:

- Michael Shermer's "Why People Believe Strange things" and "Why We Believe" are great too. They drag in the middle, but I think the good parts justify the book.

- You might also like some of George Carlin's books, especially "Brian Droppings".

- I too liked "The Blind Watchmaker" by Richard Dawkins. Of course, people who think one has to reject evolution in order to believe in God are wrong.

It's a good idea in these times to read 'The Blind Watchmaker' by Richard Dawkins.

At least as important to understand reality as it is to identify delusion.

Good luck!

"The Age of Reason" by Thomas Paine is where I began. The good thing about atheism is that you don't need to follow no steenking books! Think freely!
