The way roulette works the black/red bets are the same expected return as betting on a number, or betting on three numbers or almost any other bet (except of course foolish bets that cancel themselves out)

For example:
The chance of hitting Red is 18/38 or 47.368%
there are 18 red spots, and 38 total. (dont forget the 0 and 00) And you'll double (2x) your money. So, your expected returns are:

2 * .47368 = 0.94736
So for every 1 dollar you bet youll only get 0.94736 back, in other words youll lose 5 cents for every dollar you risk.

The chance of hitting a specific number is 1/38 or 2.6316%
And you'll multiply your money by 36 so your expected returns are:
36 * .026316 = 0.94736

Notice? your returns are the same, no matter what you bet the odds are the same.

The problem with losing money on average for every spin is that the more you play the lower the variation in your possible return becomes. By playing many small hands you're increasing the certainty that you will lose money.

I would suggest placing all your money on one spin, and if you hit it walk away. The odds are the same, but the variation in the outcome is high so you still have a CHANCE at winning big bucks.

Try to find a single 0 or european wheel, rather than a standard 0/00 wheel.

The house edge is half that of a 0/00 wheel. The only problem is that casinos that offer it usually have the minimums set at 2x the minimums on the standard wheel.

That and don't bet the 5 number bet 0-00-1-2-3. It is the worst bet in the game.

I would say bet the minimum on the inside. I think the fun of roulette is betting a little to win a lot. If you want to bet a lot to win a little, play blackjack instead, the house edge is lower.

Don't be confused by the Red/Black or Odd/Even paying any better than something else or giving you better odds. People seem to think you get better odds, but you don't. If you were to put one dollar on all the black numbers you would be betting $18. If you hit one of those numbers then you lose $17 and win $35. 35 - 17 = $18. This works the same for splits, sections, rows, odd/even, black/red, streets and double streets. So you see that trying to bet the outside is just a easy way of betting an even amount of money on a lot of numbers.

Don't place conflicting bets. Play one number per chip (35 to 1 odds) - when you play multiple numbers the payout is less. Don't waste time on black/red or even/odd - only gives you 2 to 1. Don't put out $50 on a spin if the best you can win back is $35 on a $1 bet.
Then practice practice practice. Play on a video game to test your new strategies.

Most systems fail on the long run. However, you can find/develop the system that suit your gambling ambitions. There are systems that allow you to win frequently but a relatively small amount of money. Others can bring you a large win but in most sessions you'll loose. You want to get the best odds you can. Basically the odd / even bet or the red / black bet get you at least a 50-50 shot. It pays as even odds. Typically if you watch a little bit- the wheel can be streaky. Placing bets on numbers is a foolhardy way to lose your money.

there isn't one.. the odds will always be in the casino's favour.
If you can afford the gamble just sit back and enjoy the ride. If you can't afford it don't even walk into a casino.
