theology and science are two different ways to search for truth. They don't have to contradict eachother, in fact, science reveals to us the grandeur of God's magnificant creation!

I hold a B.A. in History Education. I watch the NG channel as well as Discovery, TLC, History Channel, etc. and enjoy doing so. As a follower of Chirst, I bear no grudge nor do I think that scientists have formed some conspiracy against God or to lead people away from Christ. I simply agreee to disagree. Scientists are not wrong on many of the things that are taught today, but I do believe that on certain fundamental quetions they are incorrect. You have heard the arguments before about creation vs. evolution, young earth vs. old earth, etc. I believe that God created the heavens and the earth. How long ago, I do not know and I do not think science knows for sure. I do not belive that the earth is six thousand years old but rather could be billions upon billions of years old. I simply do not have that answer. God is eternal and everlasting and is not bound by time and space as we are. The old testament speaks of things such as Lucifer or Satan being thrown out of heaven and some have asked "when did this occur?" Also, verses 1 and 2 of Genesis provide a clue. In verse 1 it says that In the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth. In verse 2 in continues And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Now when God creates, He creates perfection, when man was first created, he was perfect until sin entered into his body. In verse one, the heaven and earth was perfect, but in verse two it is void and lifeless. What happened? It seems as though something catastrophic happened, maybe even the battle between God and lucifer, I do not know. And then the question arises, "how much time elapsed between verses one and two?". I do not know, but it is fun to think about. Sorry about being so long winded.
God bless you.

We watch it often!
Your statement is false to begin with:
"do they think that all the scientists in the world are in a conspiracy"
A large percentage of scientists are Christians or of other religious affiliations!
A large percentage of scientists believe in Creation or Intelligent Design!
A large percentage of scientist's do not agree that global warming is being caused by man (even though like you, Al Gore groups them together and says they all do when the only thing they all agree on is that the earth is warming.)
Did you know this from National Geographic? The planet Mars temperature has gone up the exact same amount as the earth's over the exact same time period? Hmmm....mankind's pollution is farther reaching than we thought?
Did you also know that from National Geographic, The Big Bang theory and the evolution of the creation of the planet, its water and its life closely resemble the Genesis account of creation?
You like to think you are so broad and open minded, but in truth you are looking at only one side and ignoring the other(s). Get out of that text book once in awhile and actually listen! After all isn't that what you claim Christians are guilty of - ignoring the facts.

I can not answer for all Christians, only for myself.
I often watch the NGC, DC and AP.
I think some programs on the NGC specifically are trying to lead some away from God, but if your faith isn't strong enough to watch a tv program, you shouldn't be watching tv.
I also think that some scientists are misled - I can not name any, but I have seen one scientist that insisted HE was right and all other science is wrong.
As for my education I have 2 BA's, 1 MA. No degree in science, but I have studied enough (and can think on my own) to know what sounds logical/possible.

I am an educated Christian and yes I sometimes watch these channels. I don't think all the scientists are conspiring or anything you suggested. They simply chose a different approach. What's wrong with that?
You're trying to overrate a clash between the two. Sorry, I cannot help you.

I watch the channels you stated. I think many scientist are lead by other scientists. Many are either afraid to think for themselves and question evolution or are just sold on it and won't look at other evidence. There is creation SCIENCE and there are many real scientists who do NOT believe in evolution.
I am a Dental Hygienist with a Science degree.

I watch national geographic sometimes. I do not own a TV. sometimes when I am at my friends or my brother I watch it for little while and I do enjoy it. I see the power of God.
first scientist were Christians. I like science. I am not against it. problem with scientist today is that they are thinking they are God. They need to worship God.
they are looking at the creation or they find out new things and they feel like wow how smart we are but, they do not realize that God of heaven created all things and everything is under His control.
How awesome He is!

I don't have access to NGC but I do watch Discovery & Animal Planet (I'd rather watch CSI). There are things that bother me about some of the programs, for instance "Walking with Dinosaurs" should be on the Sci-Fi channel. I know dinosaurs existed, I've seen evidence but how can they make claims of knowing how certain animals behaved when there is no documentation of said behavior. Yet they say with authority, this animal did this or that when they have no proof of what they're saying.

I'm a Christian and do occasionally watch Discover and National Geographic. Nature is fascinating to me.
Oh yeah, and I also have a degree in Biology and work as a Molecular Biologist.
I don't dispute scientific findings, I simple have a different interpretation of the data. That's not the same thing.

Scientists are persecuted for not believing the evolution theory.
Take out evolution, the geologic column and the fossil record and let them make conclusions. These theory's are the "bible" to scientists, yet unproven.
Science is awesome, too bad evolution has nothing to do with it. Engineering graduate.

I would not blame the scientists for their viewpoints, but the producers for not thoroughly researching alternative viewpoints or theories.
In a 40 minute show (after commercials), it is hard for them to put the other points of view in the show.
For the most part, the producers are anti-Christian, Jew hating bigots (IMO).
