It depends upon the state you live in. 16 is the legal age of consent for all federal agencies (Washington, DC, the military, etc) and about half the United States, which means that it is legal and acceptable for you to date a 25 year old.

However, the age limit varies from state to state. Use the link below to check it where you live.

16 is legal in: Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, DC, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, Wyoming, the Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force.

16 maybe legal in other states under certain circumstances.

trust me. It is not good. You cannot possibly understand that now however. But look at it this way, If you were 25 why wouldnt you want to date someone around your own age. There is a HUGE gap between 16 and 25 which isnt so bad after another ten or twenty years. But right now, try to move on .

I would say that probably isn't that good. When you are 16 a nine year age difference is huge. He has experienced things that you can't even image yet. If he is dating someone your age that means that women his own age find something wrong with him and he can't get anyone else so he resorts to sooo much younger. I would just be careful. He may be using you. At your age I wouldn't date anyone more than maybe 19.

You should be concentrating on your education. And if you don't now you will regret it the rest of your life. If that 25 year old were not a loser, he wouldn't be dating a 16 year old. I know now you can't realize this, but after a certain point there will be no going back trying to get it right.

Nope! Not good! One he is and adult and you are not. While there is only 9 years difference, at this stage in your life, 9 years are too many.

My son in law is 9 years older than my daughter. I knew him when he was 25 too and she 16.... I adored him and thought him wonderful. Would I have allowed her to date him? No! They did begin to date when she was about 21. They have been married since 1999 and have three beautiful children...

So wait... If it's meant to be it will be if not, it will save you a broken heart.

Love isn't determined by age, but that's a prety sizeable gap right there. I'd say that you should wait at least until you're 18 before resuming a relationship with that man. Just to be on the safe/legal side of things.

Any 25 year old that dates a 16 year old is looking someone who is easily manipulated. An older woman will challenge him. You don't have the life experience to spot a low life. I've been there. It isn't your heart he wants.

At 16 you should be pushing your books and forgetting about a man. No good will come from it. More than likely if your parents find out or someone blows the whistle he will end up going to jail for dating a minor and will be tagged as a "sexual predator" for life.

No, I do not think its a good thing. When he is 25 and seems to be in love with a 16 year old...well, i think then this guy is somehow weird. You better not date him.
I am sure your parents will think so too.
